WASTE OF MONEY! I adopted my pet on 7/1/18. The vet notes from the adoption agency do not state anything about a pre-existing condition, even though he had been monitored for 2 weeks prior to adoption and "no health concerns were observed." Cut to his first vet visit on 7/13/18 where the new vet notes state he has had diarrhea since adoption. Diarrhea is now considered a pre-existing condition and not one vet visit or med is being covered by this company when the vet notes say my pet has diarrhea! Customer service won't budge on this, and it takes two business days to talk with a supervisor. Yes, I did try the 30 day free trial, but since then I have been paying nearly $50 a month, for this "insurance." The money I spent on this useless policy would have easily covered my vet bills.

This company and plan are a scam and joke. Do not fall for it. I signed up for their standard insurance and added a routine care rider. My dog Olive started getting skin allergies 2-3 months after we adopted her. She has been getting treatment and I have been submitting the claims in order to meet her per incident deductible. I was told after a claim was denied in January that we still had not met it but that her allergies would be covered once we did. Flash forward to March and this horrible company is now trying to claim that it was a pre existing condition that she had since adoption, even though NO claims had been filed regarding allergies prior to December and we adopted her in October (well past their waiting period for coverage). We just submitted $300 worth of allergy related issues and NONE will be covered even though I was told they would be. I spoke to multiple reps at PetFirst who all could not somehow understand my frustration with this situation. The manager (Sean) claims that our vet put down on one of the records that it was a pre existing condition. I called our Vet and they flat out denied this. Typical scam of an insurance company not trying to cover anything by saying it is pre-existing. This company is the reason why no one trusts pet insurance and thinks it's too good to be true - it is. Do not waste your time. I could have been saving $54 a month rather than blowing money on a shady company who clearly does not give one ounce of care about my dog/pet.

Insurance but not.... I have had this insurance plan for 6 years which costs me $22 a month.. Add that up to $1600 which would have more than paid for my latest visit to the vet. This vet visit cost me about $600 and the insurance decided they would only reimburse $40..... I have never made a claim until now and to be honest all the work of filing the claim cost me way more than the $40 they are sending us.. My dog also now needs a $2500 surgery which apparently is not covered.. So why have insurance? Cancelling this garbage policy ASAP. If you own a pet, save your money. Even the good plan is just about worthless. Beware and research before signing up for anything with this company.

After being denied claim after claim I decided to discontinue the insurance. Apparently my Dog's illnesses were not covered because it was under my $250 deductible. Month after month I paid $30 just to keep getting my claims denied. I should've saved my money and put it in a piggy bank for a rainy day when I would have to take my dog to the vet. HORRIBLE.

This Insurance company is like ALL other Insurance companies. They wil DENY DENY DENY your claim. Please do NOT waste your money. Use a savings account instead this is a wiser decision and will save you the money thrown away at a Pet First policy. I should know I am a veterinarian who has had to deal with DENIED claims from my clients. I've also dealt with the company with NO sucdess and been hung up on by Danielle. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY please!

PetFirst Pet Insurance has been the most disorganized and unhelpful service I have ever had the misfortune of paying for. Prepare to babysit their claims department every step of the way. After you submit a claim, you can’t see the documents you uploaded. You’ll never see what PetFirst received from you through the online portal, either. How convenient. I had to constantly follow up with PetFirst to confirm which claims had been received and which ones needed to be resubmitted. Even though I submitted most of my claims in one sitting, a couple still managed to get lost somehow. The breaking point for me was when PetFirst emailed a notice about my dog’s medical records. A PetFirst rep had already confirmed that my dog’s records had been received weeks ago. A few minutes after receiving that first notice, I received an email claiming that PetFirst wished to “recall” that notice. Minutes later, I received the same notice about missing medical records again. On the phone, a PetFirst rep told me to just ignore the emails and just trust the records had been received. That doesn't inspire confidence at all. I’ve sent PetFirst a heartfelt email about my experience. Unsurprisingly, I have yet to receive a response. Ironic how the company has someone replying to negative reviews here but not in their inbox. I will be going out of my way to warn people about PetFirst. Having a sick pet is stressful enough without this incompetent insurance company.

I'm not happy with their lack of coverage. My recently rescued cats both came down with tapeworms and then Giardia. Both claims were denied!!! Apparently they consider those preventable conditions, even though they'd been dewormed by the rescue. Since when is Giardia preventable? $800 in vet bills and medicine and they approved only $168 for ear infection. Don't waste your money!

Save your money.
