E & O insurance SNAFU
they think a realtor receiving commission of $20k is a full-time job. Yet this is a gross figure not take home, so it is about as part-time as you can get. also the $$ taken in commission does not indicate the number of hours one works a week. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), part-time work is generally defined as 1 to 34 hours per week. NOT DETERMINED BY AMOUNT OF INCOME

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify that the distinction between full-time and part-time status in our E&O program is not based on labor law or BLS definitions. It is an underwriting determination based on actuarial risk analysis. The carrier uses annual commission income as a consistent way to assess professional liability exposure. Based on actuarial data, the $20,000 commission threshold has been shown to reasonably differentiate risk levels for this program. These criteria and rates are filed with and reviewed by state regulators. We understand individual circumstances can vary, and we encourage anyone with questions about their classification to contact us directly so we can review their situation.
