My sitter cancelled the week before and I had to find someone else. My first time using this service, not happy.

Hi Rosemary,
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback.
We cannot find any correspondence from either you or your sitter regarding this cancellation. We are so sorry to hear that this was your experience.
We have now processed a full refund for the service. As per our community guidelines we have also unpublished the sitters profile as a direct result of your complaint.
Would you please reach out to our team via the Help Centre to discuss this matter further?
Kind Regards

Sensitive, passive-aggressive, and unprofessional
Pawshake as a company seem to be extremely sensitive to any form of criticism. I have reworded and resubmitted this negative review because they claimed the other one was defamatory, precisely for calling them sensitive. By doing so, they kind of make my case for me, but I digress...
Initially, I had a very good experience with a sitter that was registered on their site. Unfortunately, the one time I needed to contact Pawshake themselves because I was having issues with their site quickly spiralled into an extremely negative experience that ended in my account being suspended. They will tell you its because I used "threatening language", but their idea of threatening language is calling their website a piece of crap. When they wrote back clearly offended by my having called it that, threatening to suspend my account, I told them to go ahead. After all, the site wasn't working, which is why I tried to contact them in the first place.
Anyway, they have very few sitters available on their site, which I can only assume is because they are a bad company to work for. I spent over a week trying to arrange a sitter on Pawshake, and after receiving the lecturing reply from the pawshake staffer, I tried another petsitting company and immediately found a sitter who lived practically next door to me, had her lined up, booked and paid inside of 15 minutes. Easy - like it's supposed to be. Not difficult, convoluted and painful, like Pawshake makes it.
The level of maturity and professionalism of the Pawshake staff are about what you'd expect from a redditor - but don't take my word for it, have a look at their responses to negative feedback here on Trustpilot and elsewhere and you'll see it for yourself. Just a lot of passive-aggressiveness. You can see this passive-aggressiveness in their response below this review, where they use my surname. If I were a millennial redditor, I suppose I might think that would be intimidating or edgy or something. Alas, I'm just not that sensitive.
Their site doesn't work properly, which leads to communication problems with the people you're trying to hire to look after your pets. Pawshake won't take any responsibility for it and instead resorts to blaming its users, like they blamed me for their site not working.
Lastly, they do not list any contact information anywhere on their website. You can only contact them via social media - if you happen to use it. Need to email them? Phone them? Good luck. They will tell you they list their contact info to gaslight you, but you're free to look at their site yourself and you won't find it.
Their website doesn't work, their accompanying app is awful, and the staff are worse. Why subject yourself to it? There are much more professional alternatives that can connect you with great sitters. I won't bother naming them because this isn't about promoting another company - it's about warning you away from this one.

HI Alec Archibald,
Thanks for sharing your feedback for a third time.
Your profile was suspended as you chose to engage in profanity and aggression with our support staff. When asked you to stop, you replied, "I'll use whatever language I please.
Pawshake wish you all the best and hope you can move past your account suspension soon.
Kind Regards
Jack

Meget tidskrævende
Meget tidskrævende, da dyrepasserne ikke opdaterer deres kalendere, hvilket må være et strukturelt problem i forhold til platformen. Simpelthen åndssvagt at skulle bruge tid på.

Inflexible for owners, unfair for sitters
In response to the below reply, all I have received from Pawshake was a form letter saying "we know you did this, please don't do it again". Thats fair, I'm not arguing. I was desperate for this client to pay as she's difficult and has been for the couple of years I've walked for her. I get that I stuffed up and admitted to it. However no-one told me I'd been inactivated, and when I asked to have it fixed I was banned completely.
I'm a human being guys, the fact that I have clients still booking me through Pawshake after a few years should make it pretty clear that I do respect the process.
And no, no one had reached out to "resolve the matter". I've sent 3 messages and none have been replied to. This is the first response I've received at all, funny that when Pawshake is being held to account the response is super speedy.
I can't undermine anything in the future because I have zero access to my account. Nada. You guys banned me completely without warning or any communication.
__________
The platform is wildly inflexible for pet owners to book and their treatment of pet sitters can be terrible. I've had one outstanding, long term sitter through it and a bunch of average ones, there's no vetting process at all for pet sitter quality and reviews don't always tell the full story.
But still, I've used Pawshake for nearly 10 years as both pet owner and sitter and have now lost my access completely over a minor infraction. Three years of my own pet sitting work gone, all those lovely reviews, all those pet owners I'll never be able to contact again, all gone. And no response from support, no phone numbers to call, no accountability or care at all.
Fortunately I have most client phone numbers saved and they're all happy to book me directly. So your loss I guess, Pawshake.
Take my advice people, if you have a great pet sitter through Pawshake make sure you have their contact details just in case their profile suddenly gets pulled. Better still, pay them directly so they don't lose 19% to a platform that won't hesitate to screw them over.

Hi Heather,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Your profile was unpublished due to you asking a client to pay in cash and side-stepping the Pawshake payment options. Pawshake can only operate with honesty.
Cash payments void our guarantee coverage and misleads owners, leaving their pets exposed in the event of an emergency without veterinary coverage.
The Pawshake contribution of 19% covers advertising your profile, handling your payments, providing you with customer and emergency support as well as providing and maintaining a platform from which you can do business. This is on top of covering any vet fees incurred in such an emergency.
I believe my colleague has reached out to you to resolve the matter - but we would appreciate your commitment to not undermining our payment options in future. It is not a minor issue.
Kind Regards
Jack

I am dissappointed with Pawshake and…
I am dissappointed with Pawshake and the way the situation has been handled.
Pawshake has been raising their service fees quiet fast. So they reached 19% fee, which is a lot when you price the service for a dog sitting.
I have recieved a reservation from repeated owner and as I saw the service fee being increased, I have proposed him to pay offline. I do admit my mistake in that case. So spotted by algorithms (?, no actually it was not the algorythmes as we found out later), Pawshake blocks my profile and informs me that I breached the rules. They also say - it may have been missunderstanding maybe (oh we still think algorythmes here..), so please ask the owner to re-book the reservation and your profile will stay under supervision. Basically, they proposed - correct your mistake, this reservation has to be made online, and your profile stays under supervision. OK, fair enough. I do, as I told to: admit my mistake, ask the owner to re-book the reservation and show all my 'understanding' of the error, I committed. The owner even booked extra night!
After the reservation is terminated, Pawshake cashes in on my reservation (which was re-established, following their advise) and BLOCKS my profile.
I write to the Customer Support , asking - why?! I have done all you asked me to do..
Nahh, says Pawshake, we decided not to re-install your profile.. besides, they send me the screenshorts of my PRIVATE messages /exchanges with the owner where, yes, you see the text. (oh not the algorythmes!).
So why dont you just block me instead of asking me to re-make the reservation, so you can earn the money on me and still throw me away? Dishonest.
And the platform reads your private messages.. really?!
very dissappointed with how the case is handled. I had a history of great reviews from multiple happy owners . Everyone makes mistake. I was willing and corrected mine. But Pawshake clearly has a strange ethics.
19% fee says service 24/7. Took two days to answer my messages.
I will never recommend anyone to go on Pawshake just because of this case.

Hi Anita,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
The Pawshake contribution has been 19% since Pawshake's inception and was the rate when you made your pet sitting profile. There have been no increases.
Pawshake are choosing not to allow you to offer services on our platform after it was revealed you have been side-stepping our payment options and taking cash payments.
This is against our terms and conditions of use. The practice also misleads pet owners, as any insurance or guarantee's are voided by taking the booking off-platform.
We wish you the best in your pet sitting journey.
Kind Regards
Jack
