Bonjour David,
Bien cordialement,

HORRIBLE PAWSHAKE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Gave Pawshake some feedback about the listings. Their customer service agents sent me a reply about cost of living, etc. Totally off topic and keeps trying to educate me about my own country, He went off topic. No apologies and was insulting! See latest reply- confirms that they totally lost the plot. Good luck to them if they continue to hold such horrible attitides. They do not value customer feedback. Im not the only person im the world complaining abt their high handed attitudes! Suggest all users read reviews abt Pawshake widely. Pawshake thinks they can ban pet sitters or customers from their platform. There are other platforms much better than Pawshake.

Hi Rosanna,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We understand that it can be frustrating when sitters are unable to accept a booking request, and we truly empathise with your experience.
However, we do need to ensure that our platform remains a positive and respectful space for both pet owners and sitters. Keeping lists of sitters based on grievances or denied service raises concerns that go against our community guidelines.
With this in mind, we made the decision to suspend your account. We wish you all the best in finding a pet sitter in the future.
Kind regards,
Jack

Your pet is in safe hands
A while ago, I found myself in a difficult situation with my little dog, who was suffering from social anxiety and a loss of appetite. It was hard for me to find someone who could care for her properly while I was away, especially since her condition required special attention. That’s when Pawshake came to the rescue as the perfect solution.
At first, I was hesitant to leave my dog with a stranger, but the site allowed me to browse and choose from service providers who had experience in handling animals dealing with issues like social anxiety. After researching and reading about service providers in my area, I reached out to one who specialized in working with anxious pets.
My experience was amazing! The service provider took care of my dog as if she were part of their family. They ensured a calm environment for her and worked on creating a daily routine that helped her gradually adjust to life outside of the house. Thanks to this dedicated care, my dog began to feel more comfortable and slowly regained her appetite.
Pawshake wasn’t just a place to find care; it was a turning point in my dog’s life. If you're looking for someone trustworthy to care for your pet, this site is the perfect solution!

Hi Ammar,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and glowing review! It’s wonderful to hear that your dog felt cared for and supported, and that the service helped her regain confidence and appetite — that’s exactly what we hope every Pawshake experience delivers.
It looks like the 1-star rating may have been selected by accident, as your comments are extremely positive. If so, we’d encourage you to update it so other pet owners can see your full feedback.
We really appreciate you sharing your story and are so glad your dog had such a positive experience!

NO don't do it.
Our first petsitter worked during the day and was only able to give our dog, two walkies a day. So a no from our part. Our second petsitter was furious because our dog peed on her coach. Your a petsitter not a babysitter. Our third petsitter accepted our proposal in december 2024 (beginning of december 2024we even went there to show our dog), but phoned on the 31st of January that she could not take care of our dog. That is 1 day before our leaving for Italy. Thanks a lot for that. Which tells us a lot about the recruiting capacity of Pawnshake. Seems to me that they are only intressted in money and the don't care about the owners. So use at your own peril.

Hi Dominique,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts.
We noticed that your profile has only had one cancelled booking, so we’d like to clarify what you mean by “first” and “second” pet sitter?
We’re sorry to hear that second sitter was unable to proceed with your booking due to your dog peeing on their couch. While we understand that this can be disappointing, we do ask pet owners to take responsibility for their pet’s behaviour. This includes ensuring they are adequately house trained to prevent any damage to a sitter’s home.
As a reminder, a booking is only confirmed once a Meet & Greet has taken place and payment has been processed in advance. To date, we haven’t received any correspondence regarding your canceled booking, but if you’d like to reach out to our team, we’d be happy to assist you further.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,
Jack

Pawshake sitter broke agreement
Pawshake sitter broke agreement, resulting in holiday cancellations and lots of stress. This was well documented on pawshake platform. Instead of assisting us to save our dog and future pets from a dishonest dog sitter they decided to keep our money, deleted our account, but we already documented interactions to present to court. They also posted a falsified view of events on the review we posted. In reality which was well documented on their site, the sitter sent us message saying that they leaving our dog alone (2hours, which was not a problem) and will not be responsible for any harm nor, will provide any help to the dog during that time (this was the opposite of what was agreed and expected). In addition, sitter made it very difficult for us to take our items back (dog was taken by friend straight away on our request) and we had to ask police to help retrieve dog belongings. Update to the deliberately misleading reply Pawshake left below: sitter specified in her voicemail and text "NO Responsibility Accepted by her if something happens when dog alone" and "No Help or Assistance will be given to the dog if he injured when left alone". Pawshake does not want to acknowledge the issue there. Of course, who in the right mind would use their service if no responsibility and no help is a standard they operate on evidently. Their rude and abusive comments about not picking up the items as agreed is another lie. My friend was tormented by this sitter asking to come and not showing up 5 times, she never gave items back until police interfered! As for the camera, once my friend who took the dog in stress checked their car we dutifully notified police and your platform that it was found. We are going to meet you in court and will see if it is really "unwarranted" to worry about a pet when told that he is left by sitter alone, no responsibility taken if injury nor help for injury will be given. While the exactly opposite was agreed prior.

Hi Ray,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Your decision to cancel your holiday due to the sitter leaving your dog in a room for two hours is both surprising and unwarranted. At no point was your dog in danger. The sitter ensured your dog’s safety during the two hours they were running errands, and they took every precaution to prevent any issues. As outlined in our Home Dog Boarding agreement, dogs are not to be left alone for more than three hours, and the sitter fully adhered to this policy. It is important to note that you did not pay for 24/7 supervision, and the sitter retains the right to manage their personal responsibilities while fulfilling their duties.
Furthermore, the police have confirmed that the camera you accused the sitter of stealing—after your deliberate failure to attend the pre-arranged drop-off—was found in your possession. This false and serious accusation has caused undue stress to the sitter, and you have yet to issue an apology for your actions.
In light of this behaviour, your account has been permanently banned from Pawshake to protect our sitters and uphold the trust within our community.
Kind regards,
Jack

Impossible d'annuler des demandes…
Impossible d'annuler des demandes auprès des petsitters, ceux-ci restent affichés dans le tableau de bord, assez pénible.
Response from pawshake.comJun 24, 2025
Bonjour Joseph,

It’s a NO from us
I can only speak through experience with two long sits, with two different people - one went amazingly well, and the other was a complete disaster. For the purposes of this review, I will describe the latter.
Firstly, I would urge fellow homeowners to trust their gut when they are giving the keys to their home to a complete stranger. Do not trust reviews, or the sitter’s self-description. Pawshake does only the minimum due diligence in vetting sitters (ours was shown as living 11miles away on the platform, but lived nomadically (Egypt, Germany) so of no fixed address. (yes, her location was a red flag from the start but we were stuck without an alternative).
Make sure you also enquire about their capacity/willingness to treat your home with respect, clean up after themselves, return the home to the way they found it, and be very clear about instructions and boundaries.
There are always those out there who will take kindness and hospitality as a weakness.
On this occasion, we found this out the hard way with a sitter named Fenna, who, despite coming with glowing credentials and an impressive list of reviews, turned the house into a stable, leaving it in appalling condition for our cleaner to manage, and us with hundreds of pounds out of pocket in extra cleaning fees and damages. She flew in for the Meet and Greet the day before her booking started, we explained everything, and she seemed to understand our expectations. None of our instructions were followed in terms of keeping set boundaries for the pets, or cleaning up after them and herself, and there was no meaningful responsibility taken for this - either from Pawshake, or her (not even an apology). We returned home to find that the rugs and beanbags, blankets, and pillows had been peed/pooped on (a sign that they were either not walked, let out, or cleaned properly, or of stress). Our trusted cleaner (attending weekly) described scenes of finding flies in the fridge, potting soil on the floor, and general chaos. Pawshake’s Complaints policy requires reporting complaints within 48 hours, and we didn’t (jetlag, sick kids, took some time to discover where the smells were coming from…) Although this particular sitter was eventually suspended from the platform, we would have liked to see some learnings taken from this - i.e, verify a sitter’s address (surely, tax implications?), have adequate insurance that covers damages to the home, or extend the complaints window to say, 96 hours (or something a bit more reasonable!)
Secondly, please read and terms and conditions carefully - especially the exclusions - before signing up to this platform. It is absolutely fantastic when things go right, but if they don’t, you’re on your own and Pawshake will not accept responsibility despite their ‘happy service promise’ or whatever the […] they call it.
Finally, after spending thousands on this site, we have now deactivated our Pawshake profile and will be going somewhere else for this service. I would urge Pawshake to do better.

Hi Mrysini,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts.
We’re truly sorry to hear that you had a conflict with your pet sitter. We understand how disappointing and frustrating this experience must have been for you.
To clarify, all Pawshake sitters are verified by our payment provider in accordance with Australian laws. This includes checks on their identity, address, and eligibility to work in Australia, with their earnings reported as required. However, sitters are not obligated to share this personal information directly with owners, as their privacy is protected.
We regret that this situation didn’t go as you had hoped. To help avoid misunderstandings, we require a Meet & Greet before a booking is confirmed, as this step ensures compatibility and activates our guarantee coverage. We’re sorry that a Meet & Greet wasn’t arranged in this case, as it may have helped set clearer expectations for both you and the sitter.
Once again, we apologise for your experience, and we appreciate your feedback. If there’s anything else we can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Kind regards,
Jack

Absolutely gobsmacked at being played by a potential sitter.
I potentially had a booking with one of your sitters named 'Romana' from Warrington, UK. We chatted for a few days and she said that she wanted to meet ahead of the date. This being our first time using a Pawshake sitter we thought that it was the normal protocol. I contacted her 25/12/24 @ 12:53. She replied at 13:00 and said that she was available but wanted to meet first to see if her place was suitable for us (her suggestion, not mine).
Same date @ 20:52 I asked Romana when she would like to meet. 21:07 she said either the 26th or January 2nd would be good. @ 22:18 I agreed to meeting on the 2nd January etc. Then @ 22:28 Romana wrote back to say that she was looking forward to our meeting. 27th December @ 09:34 I asked her if we could add another date to the booking, she agreed and I said that we would pay her for that date even if we did not use her services that. At 10:33 this morning she said that she was available and that it would not be a problem. Then the bombshell! she messages me this evening at 18:59 to say that she is no longer available because she has taken another booking!!! Since then we have been messaging back and forth, you (Pawshake) will no doubt have a copy of what has transpired between us. She said that she picked up a booking this evening and the person confirmed so she took it. Our family is so upset because we thought that Pawshake was a reliable service with vetted and reliable sitters. How is it possible for you to have people on your books who are not trustworthy and do not know how to run a business with good faith towards animal owners, who entrust their precious pets to your people who we hoped would be both professional and compassionate. Our family holiday has now been jeopardised by the unkind way in which Romana has dealt with us. It's late in the day and it looks like one of our parties may have to remain at home with the dogs. Or, we will have to try and find a kennels with availability - highly unlikely due to: 1) at the moment there doesn't seem to be any spaces available and 2) We are genuinely reticent about leaving them there. Pawshake seemed like a great way to leave our guys. We are truly very disappointed, not only in the so called 'sitter' but more so in Pawshake's lack of care in choosing the right people to represent their company. Hence forth, we will definitely seek out other pet sitting services like 'ROVER' who appear to be more rigorous in their vetting of their sitters. In some ways this is a blessing that it worked out like this, as it confirmed that our faith in the person was not reciprocated and we could only trust someone with integrity to look after our two.
Clearly a training gap for Pawshake's registered sitters - Training on how to run a business as well as 'best practice when dealing with potential customers'

Hi Denise/Rachel,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that your booking did not work out with your sitter.
On Pawshake, an enquiry comes with no obligation for either party and can be cancelled at any stage. We strive to make this clear in our Help Centre articles, which explain how the platform operates. A booking is only secured once payment is made, the status updates to “confirmed,” and your dates are securely locked in. I’m sorry to hear this aspect of the process may not have been fully understood.
During busy periods like this, we recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment, as sitters’ schedules tend to fill up quickly. The sitter's immediate response to your enquiry on Christmas Day demonstrates the dedication and responsiveness of our sitters, though their availability can be limited due to high demand.
Once again, I sincerely apologize that your booking experience did not meet your expectations. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.
Kind regards,
Jack
