Initial thoughts
I joined Paw Champ today. We have been struggling for some time with our female German Shepherd, Nova. She will be 3 in October. We have had her since she was 5 months old. So far I am very impressed with the responses received by Paul on the chat. The responses are quick and by a real person, not a bot. I was initially confused where to start with all the videos once I joined this website to support the training of my reactive dog. I didn't know if I should start with the obedience training or with the vagus nerve regulation work. I asked the question on the chat and got a timely response from Paul. Paul acknowledged my confusion and proceeded to ask questions about Nova's behaviour in order to fine tune the training. I really appreciated that. We had done obedience sessions previously that unfortunately I think just added to my dogs stresses. Based on my input, Paul pinpointed what is going on with Nova and why she is reactive. It was also clarified that Nova, based on her history before she came to our home, is not aggressive but is exhibiting fear based responses. I so appreciate this information and it confirms my intent to keep moving forward to work with Nova to a less reactive life. Nova is a wonderful dog and we all love her so much. I am really hoping with the support of this program she will evolve to be a wonderful, well adjusted dog. I am excited to start the vagus nerve relaxation program and then as directed move to the obedience training sessions. So far, very pleased with this experience.
