Not a great experience
My wife wanted to embrace the cold. The destination picked was Denver where the weather was cold. A tour to Pikes Peak was arranged and the guide was nice. However, the mountain was more than 50% closed due to the weather. The weather was cold but closed because previous snow was icy going up. Not sure this was a good choice because they don’t service the roads for tourists so we saw 2 gift shops and that was it. Basically, it was shut down and the tour was very limited. There were a lot of ski resorts nearby that had a lot of winter activities and made provisions for cold weather. The other thing scheduled was an escape room which my we liked but not really a winter activity either. We found some other things to do like going to a museum but again it’s not a winter activity either. The food was good. My wife is a Celiac so there were some great restaurants. The steak choice for our anniversary dinner was excellant. We found breakfast place in our own that had gluten free pancakes which was great. We also cancelled one the dinner choices that had been planned. It was not a great choice. We found another good place on our own better for celiacs. The hotel was awful. It was in the train and local railway station. There was supposed to be ice cream included but the restaurant was out of business. The lobby between the office and hotel was public except between 12 AM and 6 AM. There were always homeless people there and security guards present. Our room was located outside the secured portion of the hotel. Stairs led from the public area to where our room was located. Also, our room was right above the main tracks where every time a train came the bells the train used to alert their arrival were constantly ringing all night long. Sleeping was never restful. We went three days where we had to go to the office at about 6 PM on our way to dinner to let them know that the room had not been serviced all day long. We were out during the day and we would come back in the room would not be made up. There were only two towels each day so when we use them in the morning, we didn’t have any at night. So I would go to the desk each evening and let them know and they would service the room while we went to dinner. So to sum it up, the activities were not cold weather or winter oriented, closed because there was no preparation of roads to get to where we were going, which was the biggest of the events, Pikes Peak. The hotel accommodations were marginal at best. A couple of the dinners, two out of three, we’re good, but there were no suggestions for lunch or breakfast on any days. So in my opinion, this was a very expensive trip for what we received. I would suggest anyone spending this much money decide where they want to go and if need be use a travel agent and work with them to plan all the events so that they would be adequate. The concept is good and the company‘s customer service when we called was good. My mother passed away when the trip was scheduled, but the insurance we had purchased allowed them to move the trip one week and they were able to do that with no problem. Christina was very helpful whenever there were questions and explaining what was supposed to happen. So I don’t think we’re going to do this type of trip again due to the planning of events as well as the choice of hotel accommodations.

Hi Ken! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful and detailed feedback about your trip. Amid the disappointments, we’re so glad to hear you enjoyed some wonderful moments, like the gluten-free dining options, your memorable anniversary dinner, and the helpful support from Kristina. These positive highlights mean a lot to us. At the same time, we're truly sorry that parts of the trip, such as the Pikes Peak tour and hotel accommodations, did not meet your expectations. We understand how important it is for every part of a trip to feel special and worth the cost..
