I recently had my Pioneer SX-1980 restored by Pacific Stereo, and I am really happy with it and the service I received! It looks brand-new and sounds better than it did when it was new. Pacific Stereo refurbished every circuit and board in the unit, upgraded the power supply and other boards with better capacitors and transistors, made all the controls work perfectly and did a whole alignment on the tuner and amplifier. The bag of old parts he replaced and gave back to me was FULL! The unit looks fantastic. He cleaned it inside and out, oiled the cabinet and even repainted the metal grille on top. There wasn’t even a speck of dust on the glass or anywhere else. I wanted to look inside, so I took the cabinet off to see, even though I probably wasn’t supposed to. The inside of the unit was super clean and all the boards were clean, too. I could see lots of the parts he replaced and could also see that he had straightened and aligned all of the things on the boards to look perfect. It looked just like the pictures he shows on tapeheads! After he was done fixing it, he tested it, burned it in overnight and then tested it again to make sure everything was working right. The unit was packed really good and arrived back to me in perfect shape. I liked his professionalism, his attention to detail and everything else. My neighbors don’t, though. This 1980 rocks the house! He was super easy to work with and I’ve recommended him to some of my friends who also have old vintage stereo equipment that needs repairs. He’s a true professional that knows his stuff. He’s busy, but worth the wait. I wish I had more equipment for him to do. Thank you, Pacific Stereo!

Pacificstereo.net, who owned Tapeheads forums really showed his true colors and just what a half Witt he was when he replied to my thread on his forum stating “your lack of patience is wearing mine thin.” That’s hard to grasp coming from a person who is in a service oriented business and has to deal with the public almost on a daily basis. This was all because I had asked for help through my thread but never received one so I posted again that everyone must be busy and he posted that garbage almost immediately after my comment about waiting patiently for a response. I was then kicked off the site but could still read the comments and he proved he is a snake in the grass for removing my nice comments and then slanders me stating “maybe that guys had one too many drinky poos! I am a fifteen year Army veteran that proudly served in the OIF Era conflict. This has nothing to do with that other than the fact that I explained to him that I suffered severe compounded PTSD and a TBI along with a host of other ailments. I am absolutely without words for what a low life impatient little man he is. He has left me with the thought that through his inpatients and shrewdness comes lackluster work by a hack with no patience to do the job right and also has no respect for his fellow man. Through his blatant arrogance I see a tiny little man that is lost in his own arrogance and ego putting himself before others, not offering constructive criticism. If you honestly need vintage hifi help on any piece of equipment, AudioKarma is THE place to go, no one belittles you or is condescending and they have always offered constructive, Pertinent, helpful information there. There are hundreds of qualified techs not know it alls who look down their nose at you and make derogatory comments towards you AFTER they kick you off their site. If you ever need real quality vintage hifi work, visit AudioKarma because you will find a great group of guys there eager to help you solve you’re issues in a timely manner unlike Tapeheads.net where you’ll literally wait for days with no response or a rude one if any. I have looked at pacific stereo.net’s work and as a tech I can say that it’s deceiving at best, his workmanship is far from top notch and shoddy at best but you will pay him handsomely for work that my fifth grader could perform and in less time. In my opinion he (pacificstereo.net) is no less than a hack. Buyer beware with this goon!
