Complete customer service failure
Complete customer service failure Moral of our story: Don't use Overstock to send gifts! Last week my wife and I bought a housewarming gift on Overstock for friends who just moved (a nice appetizer tray). I had to hunt around in the checkout area to find the info that Overstock won't include a note with the gift, even though many other retailers do. Instead they say that they'll send an email with a gift message the day the item arrives. I was already concerned but ordered the item. Sure enough, Overstock blew it. The item arrived at our friends home with no indication of who it was from. The alleged gift email was never sent. So, first our friends were confused, thinking maybe they forgot they'd ordered it. Then they got upset, worrying their account had been hacked. Fortunately I texted them to find out if it arrived, and that's how they found out. Overstock ruined the surprise for our friends, and ruined the gift-giving experience for us. Their price on the item was $15 less than the competition, but that savings wasn't worth it by far. I'll never send a gift again via Overstock.com.
