Onramp has introduced a new approach to custody that finally makes me feel secure about how my Bitcoin protected. For years, I bounced between custodial hot wallets like Coinbase, BlockFi, River, and Strike, but none of them gave me true peace of mind. Eventually, I turned to cold storage and set up a ColdCard to secure my Bitcoin. While hot wallets left me fully exposed to counterparty risk, the ColdCard eliminated that risk but put the entire responsibility on me, keeping up with firmware updates, securing my keys, and regularly testing the device to make sure everything still worked and I hadn't forgotten how to use it. Onramp sits perfectly in the middle of these two options. I don't have to worry about a single company going bankrupt or being hacked, and I’m not constantly stressed about hardware failures, managing backups, or losing familiarity with my cold storage setup.
