UPDATE: My previous review of the book review club quickly produced results! I am now waiting to read the finished review and I hope they liked my book. I rate OnLineBookclub.org with 5 stars

I love the opportunity to read and give my honest reviews on them and being paid even if it's a low amount is an added plus. Unfortunately the guidelines and actually getting a review approved and being paid seems almost impossible. Your review will be rejected over the smallest mistake, including a forgotten or misplaced comma. I've submitted a review multiple times and even after fixing all grammar and punctuation mistakes it continues to be rejected. It seems pointless to keep trying at this point

Another update: After editing this post I was asked to contact trustandsafety at onlinebookclub.org. When I did it was claimed that I had not read the Guidelines before "selecting" a book to review. What had actually happened was that I was contacted via email with an offer to review a specific book for $30. The next email stated, "If you read the Guidelines, then you know it is a violation of the > Guidelines to leave public negative comments about OnlineBookClub. The next email tried to bribe me into removing this post: "If you used the option to resign and thereby forfeit all pending payments, I can undo that for you once you remove the TrustPilot review you left." Wow. Not allowed to post the truth about an experience. Isn't that just wonderful for people looking for information about onlinebookclub.org. By the way, the only 2 books I looked at on the site were amateurish. Avoid this "book club" at all costs; you're better off with your local library. January 10 and I still have not been paid for the job I did for them. They keep asking for more documentation, and now, since I quit the review group I can't provide the duplicate document they are asking for. What a sham. And the first book I agreed to review was so bad I resigned from the job. Then I was offered $30 to review another book. It was just as bad as the first, but I read and reviewed it for the promised $30, which they now refuse to give me. Update: After a frustrating 2 days of back and forth over the holiday, then a day of silence, I was finally advised that I could simply change my user name a resolve the whole issue. How frustrating. Previous review: My legal name is Margaret, but I have always been known as Peggy. I signed up for Amazon as Peggy, and Onlinebookclub as Margaret. I had started reading one book, but it was so bad I couldn't finish it. Then I was offered $30 for a review. The next book was poorly written and plotless, but I wanted the cash so I finished it. When it came time to get paid the receipt listed Peggy as the owner of the Amazon account. Although I provided several documents showing that Peggy and Margaret are the same person, they could not be convinced and I was not paid. Even my bank cashes checks made out to Peggy, but onlinebookclub just couldn't be convinced.

Hi, Peggy, Your Amazon name and legal name do not need to match. Instead, if they don't match, you simply need to enter your Amazon Display Name into the field labeled "Amazon Display Name" on your Review Team Preferences tab. Don't worry; that's an easy fix if you missed that step. The confusion with the Amazon Display Name as well as the other ones all come from not reading the "Review Team Guidelines" before doing the review, which explains all these things clearly. All of this is easily fixable. You'll just want to make sure to read the Review Team Guidelines now if you haven't already so you know what to fix and how to fix it to come into compliance with the Guidelines. I can personally walk you through that super easy process and then help make sure the payment gets approved and sent asap for you. For that, just email me at: [email protected] Thank you, Scott

I was solicited by email to write a review in exchange for payment. I purchased the book and submitted proof of purchase and all of my identifying information, including my photo ID. I read the Kindle book and listened to the audiobook on Audible. The initial solicitation said I could purchase any version and bought two. I read it quickly. It was a straightforward novel, and I am an avid reader. I read through the terms and guidelines, making sure to write a thoughtful and honest review. I did call a secondary character Patricia instead of Trisha. My review was rejected, and I was banned from the review team for plagiarism. I was accused of not reading the book in the feedback. I submitted an appeal and was not reinstated. I submitted a secondary appeal, which I couldn't modify, nor could I provide any additional information. After two weeks, I received the following anonymous response... I can see in the sample on Amazon that the character is called "Trisha" in the book. However, several AI detectors have flagged this review as having significant AI content. The results we received are 100% AI, 69% AI, and 75% AI. These programs are determined to be reliable because I have run my own reviews through them to ensure there are no false positives, and the results are close to 0% for all three programs. If you used certain online programs to help write or edit the review, they could have changed the review enough to be picked up by AI detectors. Therefore, the review is considered plagiarized. I have no recourse here. Per their email, the matter is closed. They didn't ask for my notes, I wasn't allowed to rewrite the review, and I wasn't offered a refund of my purchase. I wasn't able to try again; I was simply banned (forfeiting any payment). I read some spotlight reviews, which seemed glowingly positive and excessively long. So, I probably am not a good fit anyway. I just feel ripped off of my money and time. It seems like a marketing scheme at the expense of honest reviewers. They just want you to download the book. I wasn't going to write a review, but if you are considering reviewing for this company, be prepared. -- I am amending this review for star count. After I left this review, the owner reached out, and after some back-and-forth, it did seem that he cared about my experience and was conciliatory. He invited me to work with customer service to clear any misunderstandings. I was encouraged that he wanted to rectify my experience. I'm not sure if I will do that, but I felt like I had to amend this to let reviewers know they have the option.

I submitted my first review, and I keep receiving feedbacks on how to improve my writing. It is very useful and it really helps me. Recently, I received an email from the OnlineBookClub review team that asks me to send a selfie with me holding my ID . 'For your reviews to be sent to the moderators for approval and payment, you must finishing filling out your payment profile, including uploading a picture of you holding your ID. Your reviews and payments will be on hold until you have uploaded a picture of you holding your valid government-issued photo ID." I find this very strange. Did this happen to somebody else?
