Alaska Airlines not a One World player
Dear Qatar Airways Privilege Club Customer Relations, I am writing to formally report a serious breach of the Oneworld alliance agreement by your partner carrier, Alaska Airlines, which resulted in a wrongful denial of my elite benefits. As a loyal Qatar Airways Privilege Club Gold member holding Oneworld Sapphire status, I am writing to ask that Qatar Airways escalate this compliance failure to Oneworld management and Alaska Airlines corporate relations. Flight and Booking Details: Date of Incident: 2026-07-11 Flight Number: American Airlines Flight Number 2524 Route: Purely domestic flight departing from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Location of Incident: Alaska Airlines Lounge, Concourse C at SEA. Description of Incident:On the date listed above, I attempted to access the Alaska Airlines Lounge prior to my domestic American Airlines flight. The lounge agent denied me entry, claiming that Oneworld Sapphire members are only allowed entry on international itineraries. I politely informed the agent that the domestic restriction only applies to elites who hold status through U.S. carriers (Alaska Mileage Plan and American AAdvantage). I clarified that under official Oneworld alliance rules, customers holding Sapphire status through a foreign (non-U.S.) carrier are fully exempt from this domestic restriction and are entitled to lounge access on any same-day flight operated or marketed by a Oneworld airline. The agent adamantly refused to admit me, and explicitly declined to review the digital version of my Qatar Airways elite card or consult the official Oneworld lounge access policy manual. Requested Action:As a premium passenger of Qatar Airways, I rely heavily on the global alliance benefits advertised by your airline. Being turned away at the door and ignored by partner staff entirely defeats the purpose of earning status with Qatar Airways. I kindly request that you: Forward this incident directly to your Oneworld Alliance Representative / Partner Relations Team so that formal feedback can be sent to Alaska Airlines Lounge Operations at SEA for staff retraining. Review this incident for appropriate customer service compensation regarding the denial of a fundamental alliance benefit that I was fully entitled to receive. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for defending the integrity of the Oneworld network benefits. I look forward to your response.
