Had an account with them
Had an account with them, but let me start at the beginning. First of all, they make it extremely hard to deposit money. I was told to go to either Walgreens or CVS to make a deposit because there are no branches near me. So the ATM that takes deposits doesn't! Then they say you can make deposits at the register. You can, but it costs you $5 for every $500 you deposit. This has to be a joke! So the next issue, they allow you to add an external bank to transfer funds into your account, another joke! So I set up my other account to transfer funds into the account. The first one goes well with no problems. The second transfer I initiate was something totally different. I get an email saying that the transfer was stopped by my other bank. I call my other bank and they say that it wasn't them that stopped the transfer, so I call OneUnited. One United tells me that they will send me an email so that I can verify my external account, so I say no problem. I never got that email. The email that I did get was an email saying that my account was being closed for deposit fraud. Deposit fraud? I call and tell the customer service representative that I have all the proof that the account belongs to me and guess what she says? "I'm sorry, sir, but your account is being closed so get all your money out of our bank before 4/28/25." Seriously? I tried supporting my own and look what it got me! Makes no sense when all they had to do was verify my account. After reading all the other horror stories associated with this bank, I'd advise anyone considering joining to steer clear!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We recognize that accessing surcharge-free deposit options in rural areas can sometimes be challenging. To help address this, we offer cash-to-card locations, although please note that these merchants typically charge a small fee for their service. Regarding bank-to-bank transfers, we want to assure you that our deposit and identity verification processes are in place to prioritize the security and protection of all customer accounts against potential fraud. As outlined in our Deposit Account Agreement Disclosure, OneUnited Bank does reserve the right to close accounts or terminate services when necessary, and this is a measure we take seriously.
