⚠️ Payment Fraud By Octaply's Co-Founder Tori Porter
My experience with Octaply.ai Co-Founder Tori Porter and his partners Cyrus Harbin and Richard Baldwin III has been extremely disappointing and financially damaging.
I was hired to complete a project, successfully delivered all agreed work, and expected payment of USD $400, which became due on July 6, 2023. After the project was delivered, my payment was never released. Despite numerous follow-ups over an extended period, communication eventually stopped, and I was removed from the project's Slack workspace instead of receiving the payment I had earned.
I possess invoices, chat logs, and screenshots documenting the completed work, payment discussions, and my repeated attempts to resolve the matter professionally. As of July 29, 2026, the outstanding balance, including the agreed late fees, has grown to USD $1,145.33.
I am sharing this review so that freelancers, consultants, agencies, suppliers, potential clients, employees, investors, shareholders, and business partners are aware of my experience before engaging with this company. Based on what I experienced, I strongly recommend conducting thorough due diligence, verifying their payment history, insisting on written contracts, and securing advance payments or escrow arrangements whenever possible.
Businesses are built on trust, accountability, and honoring financial commitments. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
If the outstanding payment is settled in full, I will gladly update this review to reflect that resolution.

Huge waste of time filling up the…
Huge waste of time filling up the information. Have to give my credit card details which I was not able to delete. It never applied to any jobs, and customer service never wrote back. Feels like they are just waiting for people to forget and charge them the $97 for the first month.
Response from Octaply.aiMar 28, 2024
Josue, Octaply recently had a structure change and we understand some customer service tickets were not replied to in a timely manner during this transition. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to make this right. Our platform is always looking to improve so please see the email we recently sent you.

Still not up to par for the price
I heard about this on the "Tech Is The New Black" podcast eariler this year and thought it was a promising idea to leverage AI to do job applying for you. Founder seemed genuine and passionate about his product, and the founder even offered a free trial I believe, so I logged on to their site during the podcast to see about trying it. I emailed them to ask, because the site wasn't clear on how to claim it. They said the free trial was no longer available. You had to pay $97/month to even see how it works. So I forgot about it and moved on. Then in December, they sent an email offering a 14-day trial for the holidays, which got me hyped because I had wanted to see if it could be useful.
Luckily I did not spend any $$$ to realize that their product is not up to par yet. I indicated that I was seeking a Marketing Manager role and filled out my profile accordingly. Then I noticed that it began applying for any Manager roles (Area Sales Manager, OTO Program Manager, Event Manager, Business Development Manager, etc). Not what I want at all, and it's not even in my resume. I would suggest a more "free input" style field here to allow for more specific searches, and a negative search so users can filter out roles that are not wanted during the learning process. Also you have to input all your resume data one by one - no way to upload your own resume. The software only applies to jobs posted on Indeed, so it does not appear to scan and apply to other job boards. Lastly, Cover Letter feature, specifically the use of variables, was very confusing, so I did not use it at all. I wanted my cover letter to be customized per application, especially since Octaply is all about AI, but it was not clear if the Cover Letter would do that. So I saved myself the headache in the confusing explanation on the app and went without.
Since this software is based on Indeed's API (from what I've gathered), the software creates an Indeed Account for you based on your email. It doesn't account for any follow-up that is required in the job application. I wish that would've been clearer. For example, I have received many emails that ask me to complete my application by taking an Indeed Skills test that the job requires, or other similar job requirements, before the application could be complete. Clearly, the software doesn't account for this, so if I don't do it, then these job applications aren't done. Ideally, it should connect to an existing Indeed account, or allow us to do so so that any previous Skills tests are already completed. If I'm promised 10 auto-applications per day, and 4-5 of those require a second application step, how does this save me time?
TO BE CLEAR – I am not trying to bad-mouth them. I think there is a lot of promise here and the founder was very passionate about this product, but it's clear that it still needs a lot of work to justify $97/month.
I would also suggest they keep their 14-day free trial offer going to benefit the user and get feedback faster (hopefully they do). I hope they work on some of these basic features that other negative reviews are saying as well. $97/month for this to apply to 10 or so ok/weak job matches per day is not worth it IMO. Right now, you're better off spending 10 mins a day doing "Easy Apply" on LinkedIn where you can select your job needs better.
Also disappointed to read here that their team seems to put the onus back on the user as I read negative reviews, instead of acknowledging the product's shortcoming. Would love to see them reply to this in a positive manner instead of trying to fault me for "not typing in the right prompt" or some other user failure.
If the team can iterate on these suggestions (mine and others) and improve it, this would blow every other AI-focused solution away IMO. Will wait to see if things change.

Dear Tony
We sincerely apologize for any challenges you've encountered while using our platform. Your feedback is invaluable, and we want to address some misconceptions to provide a clearer understanding of our system and its features as some of the points stated do lead to a false narrative.
1. Job Title Input and Job Categories:
Contrary to any misunderstanding, our system allows users to input their job titles during the sign-up process. In case of broad titles, the tool considers skills and salary preferences over specific positions, aiming to enhance the likelihood of finding relevant opportunities. With over 4,000 job categories available, users can precisely refine their job search. Additionally, the tutorial prompts, often overlooked, guide users to manually input specific job titles for a more tailored experience.
2. Rating System and AI Learning:
We have implemented a thumbs up and thumbs down feature to empower users in rating each job application. This feedback mechanism helps our AI system understand and improve its recommendations over time. The 7 or 14-day options are designed to gather more data, enhancing the AI's understanding and ultimately refining the job application experience, especially for those with broader job titles or limited job experience.
3. Resume Input and Accuracy:
To ensure ATC compliance and accuracy, we require users to input their resume information manually. This not only minimizes errors but also ensures that all information is up-to-date. Users appreciate this feature, recognizing the potential for typos, inaccuracies, or outdated information in their resumes. Unlike allowing resume uploads, which led to increased errors, manual input enhances accuracy and minimizes the risk of rejection due to resume issues.
4. Job Board Application Process:
Our platform applies to various job boards such as LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Monster, Snagajob, and Indeed. We prioritize LinkedIn and Indeed initially, given their prominence. As our user base grows, we plan to integrate additional job boards like Dice, Ladders, and many more in the next quarter, expanding the platform's reach and opportunities.
5. Cover Letters and Optional Features:
Our tutorial prompts clearly state that all information provided is templated, and cover letters are optional. While not mandatory for all jobs, the cover letter feature was introduced based on user demand. It's advised to create a universal cover letter aligned with your resume and skill sets.
6. Limited Monthly Applications and Future Features:
Presently, our system applies for 300 jobs avg. a month, and users are encouraged to follow up on submitted applications. We will soon release features like post-interview, pre-interview, post-hire, and pre-hire solutions. Applicants should check their emails for any skills or aptitude test requests and profile in-mail messages from employers.
7. Application Frequency and User Testimonials:
On average, our system applies to 10-15 jobs daily, saving time for users who find the traditional job application process time-consuming. Some users, particularly those with extensive resumes and sought-after skills, experience even higher application rates. Testimonials from hundreds of users attest to the tool's efficiency and time-saving benefits.
8. LinkedIn Easy Apply and Pricing Transparency:
We want to clarify that our platform does not utilize LinkedIn Easy Apply. Regarding the price point, we take pride in being the best-priced, user-friendly solution in the market.
Your feedback is crucial, and we appreciate your insights. We are committed to continuous improvement and value the opportunity to address any concerns transparently. If you have further questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Needs work
Software did apply to jobs. The software did not apply to tech sales jobs. It just applied to random jobs across the board. Upon submitting a complaint, started to apply to BDR roles, but still no tech sales roles, therefore I rank this software rather low. Wasn't able to upload an existing resume to build off of. Had to build a new resume from scratch, therefore took another 10 hours to submit. Has issues, but if corrected will be a good product because again, the software was actually applying for jobs. If I google Octaply, and I type it wrong, because let's face it, if you tell me the name and I type it, 95% of users will spell it wrong, can't find this on Google. Have to spell the name with 100% accuracy for it to come up on google. If I type Octappli, Optapply, Octapply etc, it should come up.

Hello Reginald,
Please ensure to follow the tutorial prompts correctly as they will properly guide you on how to properly use the tool, as we have seen within your profile that limited information and also incorrect information was input. We highly suggest that you do not skip the tutorial as we have noted in the system the tutorial was win fact skipped, as this highlights how to best set up your resume and employment information in the tool.
The SEO metrics ran by google is not under our control so to leave a negative review due to the fact that your search engine does not recommend the proper spelling is a bit unfair as that is not under out . With the other iterations of spelling the name octaply is not a real word but in fact Octoply and other iterations are depending upon how it is searched which is why we highly emphasize "octaply.ai" so if it is misspelled the ".ai" factor routes them back to who we originally are.
We are a new product and with time our SEO values will take time to register, it is also dependent upon the users default browser.
We are more than happy to ensure that you get the proper jobs applied for please feel free to reach out to us directly as we have noticed no outbound communication has been given to us. We will also reach out to you to ensure that we can remedy any frustrations that you may have.
In regards to the SEO that will only be adjusted with time as we grow our platform, there is simply nothing any company can do about this upon startup other than to continually push excellence and gain traffic.
