I ultimately chose to enroll in Nucamp…
I ultimately chose to enroll in Nucamp due to the affordability of it. I’ve signed up for the complete Software Engineering Bootcamp path, so it’s hard to give it a thorough sense of "was this the right decision," but it seems good so far. I didn’t understand that Nucamp is part time learning. It did take time to go through the video lessons and code challenges, but the workshops meet only once a week. For me it feels like there’s a lot of "waiting for more." Had I realized, I probably would have opted for something faster, as I currently have the time and energy to focus on learning. Having made the choice, I’m going to see where this goes. The instructor for my class was experienced in the field, and was, in my opinion, an effective and patient teacher. I know I would take a class with him again if given the opportunity. The WebDev course, which I finished, followed a very logical order, starting with introduction of basic HTML and Visual Studio Code. After that, CSS, and then an introduction to JavaScript. I came to the course with some knowledge of JavaScript already, which made it more about "finding the challenge" rather than the curriculum itself being the challenge. It also helped me find my big gap in JavaScript (DOM manipulation). After the course, I feel distinctly more confident in my trajectory and ability with regard to changing careers.
