A mostly good experience...
A mostly good experience... I submitted a fairly large order after receiving a discount coupon. Some items were on back order, but everything else was fine, with one very glaring exception. One item was missing from my order and I immediately replied to the confirmation e-mail to alert NorthShore about the error. I also asked to have a different size shipped instead (I ordered a size large and later found out I should have ordered a size medium). I figured if they didn't ship the original item, shipping a medium instead of a large was going to be really easy. It would save everyone time, effort, and return shipping charges... I was wrong. First I had to go through several rounds of e-mails starting with someone asking "I see your order shipped in 4 boxes, did you look in all of them?" followed by "Would you please confirm your shipping address?" as if perhaps they shipped everything to the wrong address. I wouldn't be asking about a single missing item if the order didn't actually arrive at my house, now would I? Then when it finally shipped days later I received the size large from my original order, rather than the medium I had clearly requested in my original contact with NorthShore. So now I have the wrong item, I haven't received a return shipping label, and I have no idea when the correct item will get here. When they get it right, everything is wonderful. If they make a mistake, expect to take a few days of e-mails for them to take care of the problem. And repeat your request in every e-mail, apparently nobody actually bothers to read what the previous person replied with. If they had then I would have the right item in my hands and I'd be a happy customer. At this point I'll probably switch back to my original supplier as they don't charge separate shipping fees on whole case orders and I've never had a problem with orders from them. I only went back to NorthShore because of the coupon... I don't regret the order, but I won't go out of my way to use them again. *** Edit: Follow Up - 03/01/2018 *** The follow up from NorthShore has been equally... lackluster, and as a result I have changed my rating from three to two stars. The last e-mail I received from someone with the title "Customer Service Representative Level II" simply read, "Thank you. The size Medium will be shipping today. Your order number is ********. I am very sorry it was not shipped on 2/19/18." That really didn't sit well with me, especially when the item was shipped FedEx ground instead of something faster. I had the item to be returned ready for pick up on Monday, 02/19/18, but FedEx never showed. After several calls to FedEx a driver did show up on Tuesday and got the item on it's way back to NorthShore on 02/20/18. FedEx issues are certainly not the fault of NorthShore and can happen to anyone. The correct item finally arrived TODAY, 03/01/2018. Here are some lessons to take from this encounter: 1) The replacement item should have been shipped out immediately after the error was reported rather than going around with the customer asking if they looked in all the boxes. You can see the order shipped in 4 separate boxes, and all 4 arrived at the same time - no delays, no missing or rerouted boxes. The customer says they received 4 boxes but didn't get one item. Worry about making things right with the customer first rather than starting off with the assumption it's their fault for not looking hard enough. If they're taking the time to contact you to say they're missing something they probably already emptied all the boxes they received. 2) If the replacement for the replacement item *should* have shipped on Monday 02/19/18 but didn't go out until THE CUSTOMER CONTACTED you (AGAIN) on 02/26/18 asking where the item was (more than ONE WEEK LATER)... don't send it out ground. Use something faster, at least 2-day, or if possible overnight it. Yes it's more expensive, but you've already made two mistakes on the customer's order. Give the customer the impression that you are taking responsibility to fix their urgent problem, even if your lunch is a higher priority at the time. Customer impressions matter more in the long run, and bad reviews tend to carry more weight than even the most glowingly positive ones. 3) It took 15 business days/21 calendar days to get the right item. The missing item was reported to customer service by e-mail after normal business hours on February 8, 2018 and acknowledged on February 9, 2018. The correct item was received on March 1, 2018. One issue in an order is acceptable human error. Things happen, especially when a tsunami of unexpected orders comes in. However three issues on one order, including a mistake on the fix for the first mistake, isn't as easy to forgive. The bottom line: XP Medical has all of the same products I order regularly at the same price but doesn't charge for shipping. I'll be ordering from them unless it's something that only NorthShore carries, like BetterDry or NorthShore brand diapers. I haven't tried the sample NorthShore Supreme Briefs that were included with my order, but I will give them a shot when I have some time around the house to see how well they work.
