The Trial Period Is Too Short
I ordered the trial for my dog and my mom’s dogs. One of my mother’s dogs is a ridiculously picky eater, so I didn’t expect him to like the food. To my surprise, all three dogs LOVED it!! Fast forward to the regular subscription. I ordered beef, turkey, and chicken for all three dogs; that’s what they had during the trial. My mom’s picky dog slowly started rejecting his food. I figured he didn’t like the chicken because it has a lot of squash in it. I stopped giving him chicken and switched it out for beef. The same thing happened. I tried the turkey. Same thing happened. By this time, I thought his rejection of the food was projected on him by my mother; she was comparing NomNom to another more expensive brand that the dogs used to eat and loved...but then my mother’s non-picky dog started rejecting the food. That made me concerned. I absolutely knew something was wrong when my overweight dog (he’s never met a food he doesn’t like) refused to eat for three straight days. I tried hand feeding the food to him, which worked...but I later learned that dogs feel “obligated” to eat when they’re hand fed. I put a little anchovy oil in their bowls to coax them to eat, but that only worked for two days. Now I’ve got about two weeks worth of food that none of the dogs will eat. I have to buy something else for them to eat until their new food arrives. This program is too expensive for dogs to not like the food. Perhaps if the trial period is extended to one month, which is about how long it took our dogs to reject the food, people can get a better idea if their pets really like the food or not.
