I’ve used this service for about a year. My main issue with the food is that 70% of the packages contain way too much potatoes and barely any meat. We always keep boiled chicken in our fridge to add more meat and remove some potatoes. I just opened a package with like 4 pieces of chicken and the rest was potatoes.. kinda annoying when you’re paying $200 a month AND i have to always buy extra chicken to supplement the meals because they are POTATO HEAVY. The average ratio is like 70-80% potato. I’d use another service but can’t seem to find another company who doesn’t grind their food into a slop.

Hi Richard, Thank you for sharing this feedback with us. Our care team reached out several days ago to follow up with you--we definitely want to make sure that you're satisfied with your Nom Nom experience. Our Chicken Chow recipe contains 50% protein; since meat cooks down and sweet potatoes, in contrast, swell while they cook (absorbing moisture from surrounding ingredients), gently cooked chicken may appear to have less mass than the same quantity of gently cooked sweet potatoes. Each of our recipes has been developed by our in-house nutritionist, Dr. Justin Shmalberg, to ensure that the pets we serve are receiving the optimal levels of nutrients required for them to thrive. If you would like to further discuss, please be encouraged to connect with our care team. They're always here to support you and your pups!

Like other people have reported, there appears to be little quality control. The website brags that each packet is "perfectly pre-portioned," but that is not the case. I tossed 12 random "70 gram" packets of fish on the scale and got 9 different weights, ranging from 52 g to 143 g. When I alerted the company, responses were polite and professional, but I didn't get the impression they are taking this as seriously as they need to be. Also, as another reviewer noted, some of the chicken chunks are huge and have to be cut into smaller pieces before giving them to the cats. My cats like the fish but the fish recipe is being discontinued. I wanted to like this company, but based on false advertising ("perfectly pre-portioned" meals), a sense that they are not taking this as seriously as I think they should, and no stated plan for correcting the issue other than "alerting the kitchen" (which should already have been alerted since at least one other person reported on this same issue in October), I can't recommend them.

Great concept! My dog loves this food. We consistently had portions vary in size. One month was literally double her food before we realized they gave us the wrong portion size. Three months in a row we had inconsistent portions and for almost $80 a month for a 6lb dog we didn’t think it was worth so many issues.

Hi Dede, thank you for providing us with this meaningful feedback. We're thrilled that Bella Mae loves her Nom Nom! On the other hand, we apologize for the variation in her portion sizes, and definitely understand your frustration. I just canceled our subscription and it's a shame. Our dog really liked the food. We canceled because of inconsistencies with the weight of several food packs; basically not getting the amount of food we pay for. Each food pack is supposed to be 200 grams. We have to split the pack in half for each meal. I noticed that several food packs weighed less than 200 grams, some as low as 130 grams. I did outreach customer service several times, they were hard to get on the phone. I text twice and finally received a call back. The customer service rep apologized and explained they did have machines calibrated recently. I explained the issue and the customer service rep made up for it by giving us an extra week worth of food as well as an approximately $20 credit. After that call, we received two more monthly shipments that still had several food packs weighing less than 200 grams. I really wanted Nom Nom to work out since the food seemed to be more appealing than other fresh food brands out there, but we can't justify paying for this product when they cannot provide us the correct amount of food.

The service is a great idea but quality control is a big pain point. Portions are all over the place. We started weighing the pouches after a month and found them to be up to 30% over weight, or 10% under in more than a handful of instances. The pouches of food themselves also leak half of the time and leave a huge mess in the fridge. Customer service also leaves a bit to be desired. No replies to inquiry about this product discrepancy or confirmation of cancellation (which has to be done via phone or email to discourage cancellation) Food was good, dog enjoyed. But the service was not worth the high cost.

You sent my chihuahuas cat food in the chicken recipe. I thought it was different packaging maybe different recipe. I haven’t heard anything about the message I left. The dogs like it but I don’t know how good it is for them too rich I’m sure Well the company took care of the problem . They’re sending me the right food and I get to donate the cat food! I’m satisfied and so are the babies!

I can tell that the food quality is really good and if this were the winter time I probably would love this service. However, I did the trial during the summer and When the box arrived the food was so warm that I sent an email to see if I should feed it to my dog and was told to throw it away and they would send another box. When the second box came I had the same issue. There was a lot of wasted packaging plus the delivery driving time for me to literally just throw 10 packets of dog food into the trash. I would be worried about using the service in the summer and not knowing if I’m going to be able to feed my dog if the food comes spoiled. For that reason I have requested a refund for what I paid for the trial and I’m not going to move forward. I think there’s a lot of potential but I’m not sure that there is an easy way around delivery issues in the 90° heat. Such a bummer. Update after company comment below: I did not ask or receive another shipment. I was refunded for my sample. Clearly the person responding was not aware of my Communications with the company at all and just wrote something as a response to this review.
