I´m very disappointed. I joined because of Julie Miette´s YT Videos and I was especially interested in the Pastel Figure Drawing Course - it started great, and then video after video only drawing without explanations. The courses are very oldschool and the video quality isn´t up to date. Why do they often draw with light pencil so you can´t see anything? - It´s really frustrating. Or the lightning is so bad that arm and hand are throwing shadows on the drawing. And I hate discord - NMA uses discord and has no own community platform. There is a lot of wisdom in the videos, but I´m sorry to say: They don´t spark any joy or motivation for me.

Been using NMA for a while, and while I don't have as much time as I'd like to have for learning, any time I spend doing their courses is always massive value add. I've only gone through drawing foundations 1 and 2, but already feel like I've progressed far more than all the years I spent sketching random stuff on my own (and building bad habits). A few years back I've also tried a few short drawing courses in my town and still probably learned 100x more from those 2 NMA modules I've done. Instructors I've watched so far were good at explaining their topics and common mistakes they see, and drawing along with the instructors helps me build good habits. Assignment files have been helpful as well. NMA has a token based system for submitting assignments but haven't tried using that, only know you need to pay extra for it. You get a course structure suggested as well depending on the goal you're following (e.g. I'm following the animation track), although there's quite a bit of overlap between the different tracks. Learning to draw is hard as it is so having a course structure is really helpful to track progress. The annual subscription normally goes on sale a few times a year. Got my annual sub (I got the library+ one on Black Friday) and off top my head it worked out to around £25 a month I reckon. Am happy with what I'm getting for the price, but they also have the library option (only thing you don't get is reference images and some recordings) which is like £15 a month on sale. Overall, really feels like the level detail you'd get from an art school so am really happy to be using this website and hope I can keep improving.

They force you to complete courses you don't need, and it is not the best place for sculptors. You have to turn in 140 other drawing assignments before you get to sculpt, and none of the teachers draw before they sculpt. You have to buy tokens (expensive), and if you cancel your membership, your tokens are non-refundable. I'm out $130 and learned nothing new from it. waste of money. 0

NMA is a wonderful place to learn and I can attest that my skills levelled up fast when properly following their assignment handing in programme and the course. The teaching is out of this world and I like the structure of everything, the presentation of the site. The feedback on work is always helpful and insightful. You can tell the staff really know their stuff and care to do their job well.

I've tried a few online art schools, and the level of teaching, the breadth of subjects and the production quality at NMA are the best I've seen. These are some of the best online art courses available, with a highly affordable subscription. I've learned so much, and yet I'm only scratching the surface of years of learning ahead of me. Can't recommend NMA enough.

Thanks to NMA, art is what I do. I expect three things from my art education: a structured curriculum and path to achieving my goals as an artist; world class professional instruction and direct engagement; a passionate and supportive community. Since joining in late 2021, NMA has not only delivered on every point, they have reset my expectations for myself and for my art education. Specifically, the NMA learning tracks and coursework have put me on a clear and rigorous path to achieving my most ambitious artistic goals. The group and individual coaching programs have given me incredible access to multiple world class artists and accelerated my development. The NMA community of artists (instructors, coaches, TA's, and students) has given me all of the engagement and support of an academic campus experience. It's also a ridiculous value. If you're called to the artist's journey, NMA is the way.

I was so excited when I discovered New Masters Academy 2 years ago. I was desperately searching for a serious, high quality and professional online course which would fill the gap in my quest for artistic knowledge and skills. NMA is by far the most complete online art academy in existence today. There are many art schools, courses or programs online that specialize in drawing, painting or art history but none to my knowledge encompass the whole gamut of art education from drawing, anatomy, figure, still life and landscape painting (my personal interest), illustration and comic arts, sculpting, 3d character art, artistic expression and style to name just a few. All of the instructors are well known professional artists who are very inspiring and skilled in communicating their expertise. What I particularly enjoy is the flexibility of the courses. Students can take part in live classes and receive critical analysis after doing the exercises or view the courses at their leisure when schedules are too tight to attend. You can even purchase personalized coaching sessions which really come in handy when you're stuck or experience painter's block. All in all I don't think one can find an academy as complete as New Masters Academy. I wish them continued success and am so grateful that they exist for budding artists such as me who can't find good art instruction locally.

This website is amazing. A great thanks to people who are working on it and all the artists who take times to give us the best advises and detailed lessons. I'm interested in drawing precisely and my only matter here is to progress fast enough to work on all the resources I'd like.
