Horrible! Truly awful company that has abysmal communication skills. Didn't hear from my claim manager for the entire duration of my leave, and then when my doctor tried to extend, they pulled out the process for a month ultimately to deny it although I have a plethora of notes from 5+ physicians as we are investigating. I'm not even going to be out long; it was a two month request. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if we had asked for longer. Thankfully for me, my HR department understands how difficult NY Life is so I won't lose my job. I can't imagine how many lawsuits they must engage in. They are putting people's livelihoods on the line by not communicating decisions. I'm going to have to appeal their decisions while I go back to work, (with a disability I might add!) They are banking on you being too tired and giving up. DON'T GIVE UP.

My husband's short term disability plan through New York Life was a complete headache. Our "client representative" only talked to us in person the day after my husband was back to work despite numerous phone calls to her, chat attempts to reach her, and emails through the portal. The portal sounds great BUT never told us we were not getting paid or why. No email send through the portal was every replied to and some of our documents never showed up in the portal. Our checks wouldn't be deposited (first and last payments were each 3 weeks late, and another payment was a week late). Payments only showed up after we tried to reach NYL repeatedly (btw if you are in the middle of a claim- say yes you need more help to the chat bot and that is the only way we got a person to answer a question). Terrible communication via portal, snail mail, and phone. Payments repeatedly delayed by 3 weeks for uncommunicated reasons despite portal saying we were approved for 12 weeks of pay. Payments do not tell you details of payrate. If we could give this a zero star review we would. Do NOT recommend NYL for disability claims. Check other customer reviews and you will see our experience is their business model apparently.

The dates that verification paperwork was requested from my surgeon made it impossible for me to receive my payments on time. My payments were very late, even though I had everything in order and requested to have paperwork sent early to avoid this issue. Repeated phone calls were not returned.

I am disappointed with my experience handling a short\-term disability claim through New York Life\. After my claim was processed, there was an issue regarding one day of benefits that I believe should have been paid\. I called multiple times to request a review and was told my concerns would be escalated\. I was also told someone would call me back, but I never received a return call\. Several weeks have now passed, and I have still not heard from anyone\. Instead, my claim appears to have been closed without any follow\-up or explanation\. The lack of communication has been the most frustrating part of this experience\. Even if the final decision remained the same, I expected the courtesy of a callback and a clear explanation after my concerns were escalated\. Customer service should include timely communication and follow\-through, especially when people are already dealing with medical issues and financial stress\. I hope New York Life improves its responsiveness and keeps customers informed throughout the claims process\.

I cancelled my policy with NY Life insurance and never received the money l paid in back. I had about 1 800.00 paid in at the time. I signed and submitted the necessary paperwork and never received anything. This is a bad company to deal with, you'll just get ripped off m

I absolutely hate having to work with these people. They litterally blew up my life because of how horrible they are. First I got hit with ms and put out of work for months because I needed to see a specialist. They denied my STD so it went without pay. I lost my fiance, my home, my car, and ended up having to file for bankruptcy because of them. I had a full mental breakdown and asked for a single week to get my stuff together and guess what? They denied that too. Oh and I asked for a care giver day to take care of my brother who had to have surgery after being hit by a care and guess what? Denied that too. All while having basically no communication with me about any of it. Screw these guys I hope you never have to deal with them.

It's almost like New York Life wants to even make you sicker with warrior no callbacks after the documents are submitted and when they do call back it's just to tell you that they need more information after pages and pages of information. Then they tell you five day. Wait period for agency review But cannot meet their own five day quota on the review waiting while my bills are not able to wait gives you even more stress warrior and causes people to be even sicker than what they already are trying to deal with something so frustrating and such a headache when it definitely should not be this hard Just to get a response or get an approval on a case that was previously approved and the issue has not changed, but has got worse I would not recommend them to anyone.
