*UPDATE* International buyers please beware, although the NWD has promised x2 upgrades in your lifetime even for international customers, they have suddenly removed this option on 20th May 2021. Please do NOT proceed with your purchase if this option is critical to you. Although NWD is aware that it has assured that the upgrade policy applies to international buyers prior my purchase, the management has refused to honor its promise to me. [Update: 27th May 2021] ]I had to update my review again to better reflect my review because I received this: "Your review was brought to my attention. After reading it and there you are encouraging others to shop at Brilliant Earth instead of us, I'm surprised you are even enquiring about our product." The context of my email. I decided to continue to go ahead with my purchase with NWD with another staff, even though the upgrade is no longer viable, since the another staff has stopped replying my email. None of the staffs apologised for the sudden change in policy. ____________________________________________ Since the upgrade was a main decision point before I decided to purchase colored lab diamond from NWD, I urge that you consider purchasing from Brilliant Earth first, which carries a range of nicer colored lab diamonds, more transparent exchange/upgrade policies and cheaper overseas shipping at 50 USD, before you consider getting from NWD. And yes, I am a honest legit customer who have written many detailed review posts for my diamond purchases and services at addicted2diamonds.blogspot.com.

Within 3 hours of my wife putting on her 60th birthday present diamond necklace, the chain fell apart. I will be calling tomorrow to get my money back. I thought it was a good price and it goes to show, you get what you pay for. Totally disappointed !!

I bought a .90 caret diamond. After purchase I had no idea that a lab grown diamond has no resale value. Bummer.

Original Review: Terrible place. Ordered a setting for a specific sized diamond and they LIED about what size diamond it would fit. MULTIPLE professional jewelers checked out the setting and it is garbage, just like their company. I wish I could include a picture so more lies aren't included in their response to my complaint. I read they are supposedly USA based but speak poor English. In addition, they refused to correct their error when the setting was defective (NOT symmetrical and uneven!!!!) and also did not hold the diamond!!!!!! I tried looking them up on BBB but couldn't find anything. I will keep searching to report them. Indecent people!!! Karma will come. Update/Response: Hmm what is it called when you MISLEAD your customers with FALSE information and then keep insisting that you didn't when there's proof and multiple sources confirming this? IT MAKES YOU A LIAR!! Not only that, you force your customers to pay for return shipping when it is YOUR FAULT for the item not being the correct size AND defective (crooked, uneven, and poor craftsmanship). So you're a LIAR AND A CHEAT. YOUR FAULT= YOU SHOULD PAY FOR RETURN SHIPPING. Why don't you request pictures to see the defect and then pay for it?! Why the hell would ANYONE agree to spend MORE money toward a crappy setting and a crappy company?!! It's almost comical that you think that's doing good business. This experience reveals that there are unskilled and unprofessional people working for this company. Even if you believe you made/shipped the right setting, it shows your quality control is terrible. Also, why the hell would someone make up the fact that their REAL MINED DIAMOND doesn't fit the setting when a GIA certificate shows the carat size and diameter of the said diamond? Someone is lying and it's not me! Take a moment and consider the fact that human error on your part is a possibility. When my fiancé reached out, you guys told him you wouldn't do anything! Why do you think we're upset to begin with??? So please, don't pretend like you really tried to help before all of this. Perhaps that's why you are not on the Better Business Bureau. Doing business with these people is not better business. I suggest checking out Rare Carat, James Allen, or Blue Nile. They're reputable. Last Update: We received a refund after sending pictures and circling the defect in the images. It's the only thing that went right in this experience.

The craftsmanship and quality of NWD jewelry is absolute garbage. Do not believe their return policy because they will not honor it and they will not give you a full refund. They kept over $200 of my purchase price AND I had to follow up with them just to get my refund! I ordered the three carat bracelet (456853) from them and when I received it, I was incredibly disappointed with its craftsmanship and initiated a return immediately. The prongs holding each diamond were incredibly thin and only about 2 or 3 prongs that were supposed to be holding each diamond were pressed down enough to hold them in, which means that they will snag on anything the bracelet touches. The prongs are also so thin that they can be manipulated with your fingernail! I did not want to take that chance and have diamonds fall out every time I wore it (which is not covered in their policies or warranties). Please explain to me how that is quality craftsmanship. Their policy states, “New World Diamonds (NWD) is committed to and stands behind the quality of our products which includes lab grown diamonds and finished jewelry. If for any reason you aren’t completely satisfied with the goods, don’t worry, we offer free returns within 30 days of receipt...” I have purchased cheap costume jewelry that was finished with more care than NWD does with their jewelry. They also refused to give me a full refund. The bracelet I ordered was a 7.5 inch length and that was too big for me. I asked them to take it down to a 7 inch, which they did. Now, I know more about fine jewelry than most people do, so I know what to look for when it comes to quality and craftsmanship and I know how much “work” goes into reducing the length of a bracelet. It takes about five minutes. They refused to give me a full refund because I ordered a “customized” item. How is that different than ordering a ring in a certain size? If a ring has to be sized, it is much more work than removing 5 diamond links. I did the math before I made the purchase so I knew the actual carat weight at 7 inches and how many diamond links needed to be removed to get to that length. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY with this company. When I emailed customer service about these issues, they told me that I would not receive a full refund and they had the audacity to suggest that I order other items on their website that add up to the price of the bracelet (or more!) instead and that was the best they could do. I beg you to spend your money elsewhere and do not fall into this scam like I did.
