Naked makes us feel naked when it comes to our claims! There's always a story. Our current saga involves a leaking hot water pipe in our ceiling that we had to fight to get repaired. Eventually got it repaired and the plumbers damaged our cold water pipe. Plumbers are rated a 2 out of 5 when I Google them! Shocking!!!
I definitely do not recommend Naked Insurance.
I was insured with Naked Insurance for three years and remained completely claim-free throughout my policy. I later switched to MiWay Blink because it was more affordable, and I have also remained claim-free there.
Recently, I wanted to return to Naked Insurance because it is more affordable for me, especially considering that I work from home and only drive my car around four times a month.
To my surprise, I was told they would not insure my vehicle because it has a cone air filter and the exhaust silencers have been removed. These modifications have been on the car since I bought it and were fully disclosed when I first insured the vehicle with Naked Insurance. They accepted the risk then, insured me for three years, and I never made a single claim.
What makes this even more confusing is that Naked's website states that they do not cover performance modifications that make a car faster. My vehicle only has a cone air filter and the exhaust silencers removed. These modifications have been on the car for almost five years without any issues, and I struggle to understand how they make my vehicle faster or why they are now grounds to refuse cover.
Nothing about my vehicle, my driving habits, or my claims history has changed. The only thing that appears to have changed is Naked Insurance's underwriting policy.
After faithfully paying premiums for three years and maintaining a completely claim-free record, I'm extremely disappointed by how this has been handled. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Naked Insurance.
Their service is horrible too

Absolutely disgusting
Absolutely disgusting. Naked advertising how easy it is to insure and claim. This is far from the truth. My phone got stolen at the mall. I submitted the claim with a case number and ICT reference. They then contacted me for: bank statements proving I was at the mall, a Vodacom record showing its contract, a Vodafone usage report, a Vodacom white report, an affidavit. And I get told if this is all not submitted then claim will be cancelled. I submitted all to them explaining I can provide a mini statement from an ATM as I had no device to get onto any banking app. This was not good enough. My husband eventually took out another phone contract for me so that I can just have a device to travel to work in Soweto as it’s not safe. Now we are paying two contracts for me with no resolution to the claim. So what’s the point of having naked insurance. I am definitely cancelling all vehicles and devices by them. No insurance has so much hassle over a phone, I have never claimed from an insurance for over 5 years. If a phone has so many issues for them imagine trying to claim for a car. Absolutely disgusting

They ask you questions not related to…
They ask you questions not related to the actual crime so they can find anything to deny you the claim... don't be fooled by their advertising thay don't do admin only when you have to pay your premiums but wait till you want to claim

Four Plus years of Loyalty
Four Plus years of Loyalty, Zero Support When It Actually Matters!
My experience with Naked has been nothing short of disappointing.
After being a loyal customer for more than four years, I recently submitted a claim following the theft of my device. What followed was a frustrating, exhausting process that felt less like a genuine claims assessment and more like an exercise in finding reasons not to honour a claim.
Throughout the process, I was repeatedly sent from pillar to post, asked for multiple rounds of supporting documentation, and subjected to two validation calls with the appointed validator, Nelisiwe. Rather than feeling supported during what was already a stressful situation, I found the interactions to be unnecessarily interrogative and, at times, condescending.
Despite my full cooperation throughout the investigation, Naked ultimately rejected my claim on the basis that an additional supporting document was allegedly not provided within a very narrow timeframe.
To reject a theft claim on what appears to be an administrative technicality, after weeks of requests for information and validation processes, feels incredibly unfair.
What is most disappointing is the impression that the focus was not on understanding the facts surrounding the theft, but rather on identifying loopholes that could be used to avoid paying out a claim.
As a customer who has faithfully paid premiums for years, I expected a fair, transparent, and customer-centric process.
I have since escalated the matter to the Ombudsman and requested recordings of both validation sessions as part of that process.
Insurance is tested when customers need it most. Unfortunately, when I needed Naked, the experience left me feeling unsupported, unheard, and deeply disappointed.
I cannot recommend this claims experience to anyone considering Naked as their insurer.

Would absolutely not recommend
Would absolutely not recommend. I pay around R7,000 a month in premiums, submitted a claim for a Dell monitor, and after waiting two weeks was offered a ridiculous R1,600. That’s not just disappointing, it’s insulting.
For a company that markets itself as modern and customer-focused, this experience proves the complete opposite. When you actually need them, they massively underdeliver. Feels like a complete rip-off. Avoid.
