Never coming back
Never coming back
I am very disappointed with the result. Already when I got back to my hotel, I noticed that the edges were very uneven, my own nails were sticking out underneath the gel, there was gel on my cuticles, and there were lumps of gel along the edges of some of the nails. There were also areas where there wasn’t enough gel applied, etc. The very next day, the polish started chipping off, and by day three my nails were getting caught in my hair because pieces of gel had started coming off near the cuticles. It is now day six, and one third of my nails are already starting to fall off. I don’t want to spend the last day of my holiday complaining, so I will have to pay extra to get them redone when I get home. It is honestly unbelievable that they are already this damaged, especially considering that I am on holiday and have barely used my hands at all during these six days. If I had not been on holiday, I definitely would not still have these nails on. During the first two days, two of the nails were also painful because they had been cut so short that they bled. She complained that my nails were difficult to work with, but I have never received complaints about my nails before, and I have never experienced them falling off when getting my nails done elsewhere. Therefore, I recommend avoiding Smiljana at Nails Garden in Sliema.

Disrespectful to plus size clients
I've been coming to this salon faithfully for years, every two weeks for my hands and feet. Today, however, I experienced something that really hurt and embarrassed me.
As I was getting up from the pedicure chair the same way I always do, the owner came over and loudly told me not to lean on the arm of the chair because I might break it. The problem is — I was not leaning on the chair, and even if there was a concern, it could have been addressed respectfully and privately.
Instead, it was said openly in front of everyone on the salon floor, which made me feel singled out, humiliated, and judged. Then when I became offended by the comment, he seemed upset that my feelings were hurt.
As a plus-size woman, moments like this are deeply uncomfortable because comments about our bodies are often disguised as “concern” when they are actually disrespectful and unnecessary.
I spend my money where I feel respected. No matter how small my dollar may be, I am still a loyal, paying customer, and I deserve to be treated with dignity.
I’m just one person, but if you believe this was out of line and disrespectful, I encourage you to think carefully about where you choose to patronize.

Full of Drama
Full of Drama, No Professionalism, and Zero Respect for Clients’ Time
I had an appointment with Sara at 3 PM. The receptionist called and asked if I could come in at 1 PM instead because Sara “had to leave early.” I rearranged my day to accommodate her, only to arrive and be told Sara had already left. No apology just, “Adriana will do your nails.”
After that, I decided to avoid the confusion and drama, so I booked my next appointment with Fara. Soon after, Sara texted me asking why I switched. I told her it’s because she’s rarely available. She told me to book with her next time.
A month later, I went to book again, but Sara wasn’t on the schedule. She told me to book under her sister Paras’ name, but that she (Sara) would still come in and do my nails herself. I told her this was too much drama.
Without my consent, Sara went into the booking system, canceled my appointment with Fara, and changed it to herself then texted me saying she had done it and explaining she booked it under her name.
On the day of that appointment, I arrived at 2 PM and Sara was still busy with another client. I ended up waiting until after 3 PM over an hour past my scheduled time. While I waited, I told Fara what had happened, and we spoke to the receptionist (who acts like the manager because there is never an actual manager on site).
Sara then came up to me and said, “Why are you mad? I came in on my day off for you.” I told her I had been waiting over an hour, and if she couldn’t take me on time, she should have left my appointment with Fara. I told her this was unprofessional.
She eventually did my nails, but also mentioned the receptionist is her best friend so it was clear nothing would be done.
The next day after all of this, I called to cancel my membership. The receptionist took my information, then hung up on me without a word.
The day after I posted a Yelp review about this experience, Sara texted me repeatedly asking why I did the review and how I could do that. She has my number because I gave hers for scheduling, but she used it in an unprofessional way. I have a screenshot showing proof of these messages that posted on Google and Yelp.
The work environment here is toxic and unprofessional:
You constantly overhear gossip about coworkers—who they dislike, who they think is lazy, and how long they work (12+ hour shifts).
Receptionists are rude and even talk badly about employees in front of clients.
There is no real management presence, so accountability doesn’t exist.
The day after all this, I called to cancel my membership. The receptionist took my information and then hung up on me without a word.
Nail Garden is full of unnecessary drama, unprofessional behavior, and zero respect for clients’ time. If you value professionalism, avoid this place.
