My Green MattressMy Green Mattress was founded by Tim Masters. Tim is an experienced businessman, master craftsman, and devoted family man. Tim's daughter, Emily, inspired him to expand his offerings to include all natural mattresses. Shortly after Emily was born, it was apparent that she suffered from eczema and allergies. Tim and his wife, Cindy, took Emily to see the best pediatric dermatologists, but also did their own research and found that all-natural products could help alleviate Emily’s symptoms.Tim realized it was time to offer all-natural mattresses to his customers, and rushed to put one in his daughter’s crib. Emily is now sleeping on a twin-size, all-natural mattress handcrafted by her Dad. She is a happy, healthy little girl that loves to play with her three sisters, Rylee, Madelyn, Megan, and with her brother, Kyle.Tim began working as an apprentice at family-owned, Quality Sleep Shop, that was established in 1968. As an apprentice, Tim mastered the art of mattress making. He eventually bought the business, and has expanded it with the addition of the My Green Mattress division to keep up with the ever changing needs of his customers.

The mattress is great but the handles ripped the first time I moved it. I reached out to customer service right away and they told me that isn’t covered under warranty. I was disappointed especially cause the mattress was so expensive and I assumed the customer service would’ve been better.

I have three of the twin kiwi mattresses and I love them. 5 stars for them. Because of that, we ordered a king for our room. It’s not the same. I expected the same mattress just a bigger size. It’s not a lack of quality issue. The firmness and padding are just not the same as the smaller size.

Only because I wasn’t really aware of how firm the mattress is. It feels like a box spring. We had to buy a mattress topper because it hurt so much.

I have two mattresses from MyGreenMattress: A Pure Echo, which is rated as a 7 on the firmness scale and a 2016 Natural Escape, which is rated as a 6.5. The Pure Echo was for my son, but as I also needed a new mattress, I tried it out to see if I would want one, as I typically like mattresses more on the firm side. I found the Pure Echo extremely hard, like sleeping on a padded, carpeted floor, but one step softer, hard. After a couple of nights, I moved it into my son's room and called MyGreenMattress to describe the issues I had with it to see if I should try a topper or get a different style bed for myself. I was told the latex topper they have is soft and because I sleep on my back as well as my side and like a firmer feel, it was recommended I try the Natural Escape. Since the Natural Escape was listed as a 6.5 (give or take), I figured if anything it would be too hard given my experience with the Pure Echo and I would just add a topper if needed. A short time later they listed their 2016 version of the Natural Escape and after some back and forth emails with the company to see if it was worth the risk of buying a non-returnable mattress, I was told the discernible difference was that it would feel more bouncy. According to the website it had the same comfort, support and firmness rating, so I took the leap and purchased it. Much to my dissatisfaction, the 2016 Natural Escape is SOFT! So soft that my rear end sinks into it when I am lying on my back, putting pressure on my lumbar area. For reference, I am 160 lbs, so not so heavy as to strain the bed's support system. The cover is also loose to the point that I can pull it up at least three inches. Perhaps this is why the bed feels so soft...the cover isn't tight enough? I'd give it an overall rating of a 2 for quality, comfort, and falling short of the description on the website and how MyGreenMattress employee(s) described it. I understand that firmness is subjective, but when the same company/website lists one mattress as a 7 and another as a 6.5, there shouldn't be that huge of a difference in firmness. Perhaps their current version of the Natural Escape is much improved and feels completely different, but that wasn't what I was told. On the flip side, if I was reviewing the Pure Echo alone, I would rate it as a 4.5. The bed feels very well made and strikes me as being high quality. I also loved the fresh and clean wool smell that has since dissipated. I deducted half a star because I feel it's more an 8-8.5 on the firmness scale, but you could find a topper to suit you to make it more comfortable if it's too hard. If I could do it over again, that is definitely what I would do. ***In response to MyGreenMattress, I did email the company prior to purchase and was told the main difference was that the 2016 version was "more bouncy," not softer. I also emailed twice after I received the mattress to see if there was something I could do to make the mattress firmer and was told that they were having a hard time coming up with a solution for me, but I could try a compressed wool topper, but they didn't know where I could get one.

We do try our best to couple each customer who contacts us previous to purchase with the best fit for them, given a number of factors (i.e. sleep position, body frame, firmness preferences, etc.) Every person is different, and firmness is very subjective, so we can't always get it 100% right the first time. We try to provide as much information both on our website as well as directly when contacted with questions, but our mattresses aren't going to be a fit for everyone. We do offer our 100 Night Sleep Trial to help ensure that if you're not finding perfect comfort, you have the option to return or exchange your mattress. In the case of our Limited Edition 2016 model of the Natural Escape, we tried to be very clear on the website that these were being made with materials we had leftover when we moved to different styles, as present in our current models. We offered them at a deep discount to give some people the chance to experience an all natural mattress at a very low price. We're also sorry for any confusion, but the older version of the Natural Escape is most definitely going to have a different feel than the current version, and we did state that on the website.
