Trip was great our guide was the best very friendly and knowledgeable! Somethings seemed a little pricey but overall we enjoyed it !!

very well organized trip to galapagos in 2016 it would be perfect but for the guide who has been not so friendly

Great for private group travel. MTS planned trips that allowed for multi-ages to all have enjoyable experience, some together, some doing different activities. Traveled as a family to Bhutan, Sea of Cortez, Galapagos and a couple of others. Okay for general tours, have not taken many group tours. Not sure group tours are a good fit for us as I don't want to be the person who holds the group back nor do I want to be held back by others and expressed that to MTS. This isn't in reference to small stuff but in terms of several members in the group simply were not in shape to do the miles and terrain even though clients were to be pre-qualified for trip. That could be me someday, but then I don't want to diminish others' experiences. MTS works with local, independent contractors. We have found this refreshing as often local contacts and knowledge added much to our trip. While it works to have the tour guide on an international trip who comes from the states and who has led the trip ten times in the past two years (e.g. Backroads), having local guides supports the local community and can bring with it additional touches - personal experience of political situation, to seeing their auntie along the road. Only once on a general tour did this deter from the trip. Communication between MTS and contractor was lacking. Contractor wasn't engaged on trip, was frustrated that several clients were not as strong of hikers as routes required, and didn't want to hike in rainy weather. But we did not come on the trip to sit in a hotel room or browse for trinkets. We came for the hiking. MTS' US based staff is helpful, courteous. I wish MTS would offer more planned but independent trips, sort of MacAdventures type.

Our total trip was phenomenal......our guide so knowledgeable about the history and background of each country. The individual country guides were a real plus for giving us a real view of living in their own country. The hotels were wonderful, service was most often very, very nice. The whole trip was well planned and executed, even with the inevitable travel events which always happen - left iPads at security, flat tires, and so on. Only regret - extremely nice lodgings and too little time to enjoy them!

Our private trip to Todos Santos and Isla Espiritu was great. We got to do everything we expected to with the exception of a farewell dinner. The guides and instructors were all exceptional and very accommodating. Swimming with whale sharks was fabulous!!
