Unethical practices
This organization was gracious enough to offer a scholarship for their certification program, something I initially thought would be a great next step . It took five minutes to realize I was mistaken. Here are all the reasons: Some people are very hard to listen to on video and the first part of this course is a number of videos recorded by a woman who drags words. It was truly hard to sit through. The site has too many people, too many links and too much information and I found it to be counter intuitive, and stress inducing. The last reason is that it’s really for beginners and I’ve been practicing mindfulness for decades. I quickly realized this is not a good fit and maybe there’s a better certification for what I’m seeking to accomplish. I contacted Sean and staff and asked for a refund maybe a week into the program and was really quite surprised when they informed me that if I completed a vast amount of the program within 30 days and gave them reasons they thought acceptable, they’d consider giving me my $700 back. I had not read their refund policy in advance- so I’m responsible for that, but I’d hate to see anyone else make that mistake. Who would have thought they would pull something like that? Are so many people seeking refunds that they needed to make it as complicated as possible to get your investment back? I decided to attempt to meet their ridiculous requirements for a refund and did 10 pages of the workbook, which didn’t save. That was it for me. I wrote them again and told them I wanted a refund. It was not a good fit. I wasn’t on their site more than three times in a week. They absolutely refused to return my money if I did not complete a large portion of their certification first. I consider their policies unethical and extremely corrupt. Sean’s reasoning behind his insistence that you meet this ludicrous criteria is that he wants you to go out and teach mindfulness! This is the worst case of spiritual bypassing I’ve ever experienced. I just payed $700 to watch a few very irritating videos.
