If it's helpful to know, we did pay for free shipping to you, so the only charges you'd be responsible for paying to the shipping company would be those relating to getting your watch through customs, once it arrives in the UK. i.e. VAT/customs duty, plus a nominal fee courier services tend to charge to act as your customs broker unless you choose to do that yourself, which can be an option in some locales. The carrier fee you mention would have been to act as your customs broker. This has always been the cheapest approach for us when making purchases in other currencies, and is much better than bank exchange rates or typical credit card exchange rates/fees. Store owner here. Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your box as we want our customers to have the best experience possible. FWIW, at the time of shipping, when we sent your package to the care of address you provided, there was no issue with the box at all. We do test every watch, and carefully inspect every watch and package right before shipping and our staff would've also noticed an issue with the box then since we have to open and close it and latch it to take the watch out for testing and put the watch inside afterwards. With the box being a thick aluminium metal box, and how it was packaged in bubble wrap padding and additional Styrofoam holding the metal box tight in the outer corrugated cardboard box, it is difficult to imagine how it may accidentally become damaged en route to the address you specified, but should this unlikely situation occur again, please send us a quick snap photo of the issue ASAP so we can take care of it for you. Normally we could ping the microbrand for a free replacement for you, but given that the watch was delivered roughly a month ago, that would not be an option here. I also have one of these watches (same model and color) and would be happy to send you my box, which I've never used, so it is still new and in a pristine condition.

Hi Sean, We're very happy you like your new timepiece, and we do very much appreciate your feedback, which actually shocked us. As it happens, we do indicate the import duty (0% on watches) and taxes (5%) for Canada on our web site here: https://microbrand.store/pages/faq The total you should have paid to UPS should have been around 5% of your total purchase price plus typically an optional nominal customs broker fee of usually around $10-$15 or so. (Optional as you can choose to handle customs yourself instead. All of the courier services usually act as the customs broker for imports, so 99% of the time, most folks just pay the nominal handling fee.) Given your watch price was under $370 USD, a $100 customs fee sounds very wrong here. If you'd pinged us, we'd have recommended to decline accepting the delivery and have UPS hold it pending a validation of the customs charges. Did you get a receipt from the UPS driver for the ~ $100 you paid? If so, we recommend talking to UPS to see if you can get a correction and refund from them. If not, you should report that to them ASAP as, although we've never had this experience and have shipped watches in the thousands, it's possible that your driver may have pocketed some extra cash here.
