I would give this 0 Stars if I could
I would give this 0 Stars if I could! Horrid company. I started getting all of a sudden text and email saying I had a bill due Aug 2 and I had not used the card. Evidently Mercury changed their no annual fee to $49 annual fee. I never received any notification through the mail and I have informed delivery through the post office to see my mail every day it comes in a picture. Had I gotten a notification that they were going to charge me a $49 fee after having ZERO annual fee, I would have closed the card immediately. I called Mercury talked to the first customer service person who treated me very rudely. Would not tell me the address that it was sent to wanted me to tell them , which they could have lied about, and then hung up on me when I closed the account. I called back stressed and got a really nice gentleman who said he could waive all the fees for me and and I'm hoping that is true. I would never ever recommend anybody have one of these cards. I would never pay $49 a year for an annual fee for high interest card. I have Bank of America, Discover and others with no annual fee. I only took this card because they offered me $100 credit on Amazon. This is one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had with a credit card company. And if I get any text or email saying my account is late..I will be calling the bank that issued this card, First Bank & Trust (Brookings SD) on it. I feel on Mercury has done scam practices. I never even received a statement in the mail saying I owe this fee let alone they were changing policy! But they were VERY good at sending me an email and a text to let me know I owed it. I Have worked very hard to keep my credit decent. This terried me because it could have just tore out everything I've worked years on. BEWARE MERCURY CARD! Thank you to the second customer service gentleman who understood and was kind to me and hopefully fixed it. The first customer service person should be fired.
