My complaint is with the TV coverage, which is getting worse with each televised auction. It seems like the goal is to show fewer and fewer vehicles actually going through on stage, what with all the previews of vehicles coming up “later” or “tomorrow”, all of which will get ample time once it’s their turn on stage. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched a vehicle coming up the ramp that I was looking forward to see, when they switch to another “preview”, go to commercials, then come right back to “preview” another one. I know commercials are a way of life, but it’s frustrating to hear the auction going on in the background while Bill or Chris is telling us all about something that will get plenty of attention when it hits the block.

My car was auctioned as a Star car on a Saturday in Dallas. So, I paid extra. I was told that it should to across about 2 pm, but they ran so slow that it didn't cross until 6:20 pm, so many, many bidders had already left. Also, TV stopped at 6 pm. I sold my car, but it was probably $20K below what it should have brought, but i was ready to let it go. Also, when you buy a car at auction, you can't drive it. You can start it, but it really needs to be driven. So many rattles and squeaks can't be heard with a car idling. I won't do it again.

Karl- Thank you for the feedback. The overall pace of the auction does vary day to day, however, we were not running 4.5 hours behind. That said, we apologize if the timing of your run position was miscommunicated. We understand that the optics of the crowd can be concerning, however, the great majority of bidders have their target vehicles set prior to the auction. As a result, the bidders that were interested in your vehicle were either 1) still in attendance at the auction physically, 2) were bidding via the telephone or 3) were bidding via the internet. The latter is the case for your vehicle as it did sell to an internet bidder. More bidders physically at the auction doesn't equate to more bids for any given vehicle. Thank you very much for your business. If you would like to discuss this any further, please contact us. Mecum Auctions

Bought and sold at Mecum. You pay TOP, TOP dollar to be in a good time slot (as a seller), only to go thru at a time that most suits Mecum-as opposed to seller. Great for buyers though, discount after hrs/dinnertime/ghost town deals ! Big, arrogant , take it or leave it attitude, unfortunately. Lost touch with folks that really make their business work, IMHO.

John- The more money we realize for our sellers, the more money we make. That said, our goal is to bring top dollar for every vehicle that crosses our auction block. We do apologize if expectations were not properly set regarding your run position. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further, or if you have any other questions/concerns. They don't tell you in advance That they charge $ 150 for paper work on top of the 10% buyers fee. They also don't mention you will pay sales tax in the state of the auction even for out of state buyers. Overall the whole organization is cocky and rude.

Hello- Our Bidder Registration Agreement does state the documentation fee. This covers the cost of ownership transfer. Our team handles the entire ownership transfer process, resulting in a streamlined vehicle registration process for our buyers. Sales tax regulations are determined by each state, not by Mecum. We would love the opportunity to further discuss any of your concerns. Please contact us if you would like. Mecum Auctions
