I signed on w/ Martindale-Avvo a little over a month ago. I wasn't expecting to get a ton of leads immediately, but did expect my profiles to be up and running in a reasonable amount of time. My official onboarding was over a month after I signed on. The customer service is pretty good, but I don't think (or at least I was made to feel) that they take their client's seriously. I've kinda given up on them, and looking to have to eat a loss for the next few months until my plan expires. I will not be renewing. Take a serious look before signing on.

We've been a Martindale-Avvo customer for years and spend a lot with them every month. For years they've let affiliates run the show. We get poor-quality leads, we're billed for them, and then we have to jump through hoops just to get credited. Now they're selling the same lead into two different practice areas. We subscribe to both, and we keep getting the identical lead in each, billed twice. In my view, that's deceptive billing. If it's happening across our two practice areas, how many others is that same lead being sold into? When we pushed back, the answer was basically "take it or leave it." They won't let us speak to anyone except our case manager, and we have no idea whether anything is being done. For a company that sells itself to lawyers on trust and credibility, this is unbelievable. Buyer beware. 10/8 Update - The response from Martindale was clearly just their review team trying to gloss over the situation. No one has reached out. No one has looked into anything. I keep getting denied for credits on the duplicate leads I am getting, which tells me that I need to take my budget elsewhere. Everyone else should do the same. Also, I've asked my rep multiple times where my leads are coming from because none of them are coming from the Martindale-Avvo website. I don't know where they're sending those for my practice area, but all of my leads are coming from spammy affiliates.

I have had an account with Martindale for quite some time. Gotten few results from it. It has been a waste of money. Last month they billed me more than double, almost 3 times what they should have. I called twice about it and someone was going to research it and get back to me but never did. They confirmed there was an error, yet it happened a second time after I had brought it to their attention. I sent an email requesting the account be cancelled. It was ignored. I am on the phone now trying to get it resolved and haven't gotten an answer yet. I can't talk to anyone that can fix it now. All they can do is send it to the "account manager." I asked to be transferred and of course I got the account manager's voicemail. I'm not optimistic I will get a call back. Don't deal with these folks.

I am still locked into a contract with this company and to put it plainly they are worst than a used car salesman. They lie and tell you, you will get leads just by being featured on their site, their site has so many integration holes and they will try to keep you biting the bait that they are the oldest and a lot of attorneys use their services. Thousands spent and not one lead much less a paid consultation. Attorneys if you do not have money to blow and you need to make every dollar count, count them out. I took the loss already for you all.

Stay away at all costs. They are a complete waste of time and money

Gave us no leads. We cancelled our service in Feb. (the company confirmed the request), then we got billed for the next 3 months. Now saying they have no record of it. They make you jump through hoops to cancel.

You can potentially pay monthly for nothing. They hide the ball about how to get a high “avvo” rating (so you even have some exposure) and you just hope your rating improves based upon reviews. Perhaps, at this point, they’re so saturated with customers that you’re another drop in their bucket and have to share the market with too many other attorneys.

The sales people employed do work hard to sell the product, but the product is poor, bad leads - people looking for free services, and the leads appear to be sold to many attorneys at the same time. So no exclusivity. it is impossible to get a refund on bad leads.
