I have been a loyal Eli Lilly customer, using their Zepbound product for two years and paying them thousands of dollars out of pocket. Despite that long-term commitment, the moment I accidentally missed my prescription renewal date by just two days, the company raised the price by another $250. This experience makes it painfully clear that Eli Lilly cares far more about squeezing every last dollar from patients than about the people who depend on their medications. There was no grace period, no flexibility, no sign of goodwill toward someone who has been steadily using – and funding – their product for years. Just an immediate, punishing price hike. For a company that operates in the healthcare space and claims to be focused on improving lives, this behavior is disgraceful. It feels predatory and opportunistic, the move of a lecherous pharma company obsessed with its bottom line rather than with real human beings struggling to afford ongoing treatment. Patients deserve better than to be treated as nothing more than revenue streams.
