10/15/24 UPDATE: Lens.com declined to refund and Citi Bank needs more information. 9/3/24 UPDATE: Today I received this message from Trustpilot: "Hi Christine Baker, You’ve written a review for Lens.com, and they’ve asked for more details to better understand your experience. If you provide some extra information within 3 days, it’ll help them recognize your experience and respond. Add review details If we don’t hear from you, the company may not be able to recognize your review as genuine. This link is just for you. Keep your details safe and don’t share this email with anyone else." This is how TrustPilot manipulates reviews to artificially increase ratings for awful companies like Lens.com. What EXACTLY does Lens.com need? How many customers named Christine Baker ordered on 8/17/24 and then requested a refund after Lens.com's sucky website dropped the Box number for the shipping address during the order process? From my review: "Yesterday 8/28 I had a chat at Lens.com because after the 2nd 20-mile round trip to the post office there were no lenses. The chat with BenzT took about 40 minutes. ..." Not enough info for Lens.com? HOW is Lens.com licensed to sell CONTACT LENSES requiring a PRESCRIPTION? Lens.com should have its license revoked. Incredibly, Lens.com "could" have submitted a reply to this review, requesting SPECIFIC information." Trustpilot earns every penny these scummy companies PAY to increase their ratings by getting negative reviews removed because they don't "recognize your review as genuine." Lens.com deserves a NEGATIVE star rating, along with FTC prosecution of Lens.com and TrustPilot for this ratings fraud. ------------------------------------------------- My original review: Ordered contacts on 8/17/24. I do not enjoy the luxury of home delivery and my PO Box MUST be added to the street address or mail will likely be returned, lost or misdelivered. Yesterday 8/28 I had a chat at Lens.com because after the 2nd 20-mile round trip to the post office there were no lenses. The chat with BenzT took about 40 minutes. Benz first sent me an email to reorder instead of refunding and then sent me a pdf form to complete. 1) The form was NOT fillable using Adobe Acrobat Reader (latest version) and I was supposed to purchase software to make that happen. Or, I was to purchase a printer, fill out the form and then mail or scan. Obviously, Lens.com does NOT want to refund. 2) I diagnosed the problem: Clicked on reorder, the shipping address correctly displayed automatically WITH the PO Box #! Moving on to check out, the PO Box # disappeared. I have ordered at Lens.com previously and despite great frustration placed my last order at Lens.com again because of the $105 REBATE. Clearly, during the order process Lens.com "lost" the PO box. It's an ongoing problem for the many millions in rural America. I've had credit cards shut off, didn't get government mail, etc. because they "lost" my PO box # on my address. So instead of PAYING me for my time to troubleshoot their crappy website, they refused to refund. I just disputed with my credit card issuer. As I was looking to order my contacts at other sites I could not find the rebate! WHY? Why does Air Optix (Alcon) NOT provide those rebates to Costco, Walmart and the many other companies selling their lenses? It appears that something very strange is happening with those rebates. While the Lens.com site displays FALSE pricing for the lenses, the cost after rebate is still less than the competition that doesn't have rebate offers. What's going on with those REBATES? Why don't reputable companies offer those rebates? Is Lens.com PAYING Alcon for those rebates? The ALcon website contact form did not work, but hopefully I can contact them through their social media accounts. I also noticed the artificially high Lens.com rating on TrustPilot. I'm currently dealing with another scummy company and did a lot of research to determine how they get these great ratings at review sites and I cannot believe TrustPilot's part in this review scam. Time for the FTC to have a look at this review fraud. TrustPilot does not allow links, but you can search for the FTC press release titled "Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Rule Banning Fake Reviews and Testimonials" I don't think the FTC is aware of the devastating impact of the TrustPilot practices. Businesses PAYING Trustpilot get all these tools to artificially improve their rating while they scam and defraud! At minimum, a GIANT notice (bigger than the rating) should be displayed at the top of every page for a PAYING company -- advising consumers that the rating is higher due to PAYMENT to Trustpilot for additional features.
