In September 2025, I paid Lead Gen Jay $9,400 upfront for a custom cold-email lead-generation buildout, expecting a professionally managed system that would help us reach established life insurance businesses and generate meaningful sales opportunities. Unfortunately, my experience over the following year was extremely disappointing. During our initial discussions, I was reassured that identifying and reaching our target audience would be straightforward. Yet, after an entire year, we never achieved the outcome I was paying for. The team ran very weak campaigns and tried to make adjustments, but we experienced a lot of issues with mailboxes. One of my biggest frustrations was their handling of interested leads. Jonathan, a member of their team, specifically assured me that I would be notified through Slack as soon as positive responses came in. That never happened as promised. (And here's what makes this particularly frustrating: when I requested a refund, Lead Gen Jay used the fact that we hadn't responded to interested leads within 24 hours as a primary reason to deny it, despite the reason for that to happen being their own failures to identify and notify me about those responses.) By September 2026, the system had contacted approximately 23,614 people, yet we hadn't generated a paying customer or even genuine interested lead that fit our criteria from these campaigns. Another major concern was how results were measured. The dashboard reported 269 replies, but automatic responses were included. When I mentioned this to Jay, he in fact confirmed that 72 leads had replied without an autoresponder (and keep in mind, that even without an auto responder, doesn't mean an interested reply). To anyone that has some experience in the field, this distinction is critical when evaluating the effectiveness of a cold-email system. The agreement included a results-based refund guarantee. I requested a refund after the 12-month period, but the company declined, citing its interpretation of the reply-rate standard and a contractual requirement to respond to interested leads within 24 hours. I obviously disagreed about how the guarantee is being framed, and the dispute is now proceeding toward mediation. The team put in minimal effort into operating and adjusting the campaigns. And so unfortunately, after the substantial upfront payment, additional operating costs of over +$1,000, and a full year of trying to make the system work, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of results and the refund-resolution experience. ADVICE FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING THESE SERVICES: Do not rely on written assurances about lead notifications, campaign performance, or refund protections. I trusted the team with over $10,000 because I believed they had the expertise to deliver what was discussed. Based on my experience, I deeply regret that decision. I genuinely wish I'd read a review like this before trusting them with my money. UPDATE, October 18, 2026: Response to Lead Gen Jay's Public Reply Lead Gen Jay has now publicly responded to my review, claiming that I never replied to interested leads, repeatedly changed my offer, and am attempting to blackmail the company. I categorically dispute these allegations. First, the claim that I never responded to interested leads is demonstrably false. I replied to multiple prospects, including in December 2025 and June 2026, as documented in the campaign inbox. Some responses were late, given I was told that I would be notified by the team, but that is very different from claiming I never responded to anyone. As explained in my original review, Jonathan had specifically promised to notify me when positive responses arrived. The team subsequently acknowledged that three genuinely interested replies had slipped through its AI classification system. This failure is central to our disagreement over the contractual 24-hour response requirement. Second, I never changed my underlying business offer. The objective was selling life-insurance leads to insurance businesses from beginning to end. The team tested different audiences, prospect lists and campaign messaging, which was part of the service I had purchased (it was not a favor). Finally, this review is not blackmail. It is an independent account of my experience as a paying customer. I first requested a refund through the contractual process, and when that was denied, I formally requested mediation. I have not demanded money in exchange for removing my review. I stand by my documented experience and am continuing to pursue a fair resolution through the contractual mediation process. I believe prospective customers deserve to hear both sides, but those accounts should be accurate.

We probably should have never taken on this client in the first place. I take responsibility for this. He signed up with a personal email address with a brand new untested offer that has since been abandoned. Details in the public rebuttal. We rebuilt campaigns for this customer multiple times because they kept changing their offer. We ended up building nine total campaigns and generating hundreds of replies, Which well exceeded the KPIs in our agreements. The problem was that the client Did not reply to any of his interested Leads. This is one of the most important parts of our agreement, And when that we hold our clients accountable to. Unfortunately, it seems this client was not successful in their business, so they came to us well after the system was delivered and the contract was complete, asking for their money back, and now seems to be blackmailing us with this review. UPDATE: This owner has responded publicly and repeatedly to my honest review — at one point naming me in full and linking to a page he built about me by name, alongside a YouTube video targeting me over a single review. That a business owner would put that kind of energy into one client's review tells you a lot. Most businesses, faced with an unhappy customer who paid $10,000, would simply refund and move on. Instead, the response is a public campaign. On his "harassment" claim: I was emailed repeatedly over several days, including all weekend, pushed for a testimonial before the job was even finished — offering incentives in exchange, which Trustpilot and the FTC prohibit. When I declined and asked to see actual click and sales numbers first, the work stopped. I requested a refund early on and received only dismissive responses. After this review went up, he cut off my access to a separate course I had paid $1,000 for in full, and blocked my emails. The "fellow business owner" he pushed on me charged $3,500 for a funnel build, kept $2,600, and walked off the job half-finished — no completed funnel, no testing, no GHL email replies. Notably, Jay himself reviewed the contract and the unfinished work, agreed I was owed a refund, and messaged the designer several times telling him to refund me - I have the email correspondence confirming Jay agreed with me. The designer never refunded me. He cites an "8% reply rate," but those were mostly angry established authors reacting to the wrong audience being targeted, plus unsubscribes and out-of-office auto-replies — not genuine interest. He also claims he closed a deal in the first week; there was a sale, but I confirmed with that customer directly that they came in through another happy customer, not his campaigns. He never even installed lead tracking in the autoresponder, as any professional would — I added that myself later in the n8n automation. The only number that matters to an entrepreneur is click rate to your offer, and that completely failed: barely 0–1 clicks per day on a $10,000 campaign that took five months to set up. THE FACTS & BREACH OF CONTRACT: I paid $10,000 on January 22 for a lead-gen service promised within a few weeks. It dragged on five months and was, at best, half-completed. Promised vs. delivered: 1 - 50,000 leads uploaded to campaigns — never delivered. At most half, and the first batch used the wrong list (2/3 established authors on a campaign meant for non-authors), producing angry replies. 2 - Split-testing and fine-tuning of audiences, copy and angles — none, at all, despite his sales page clearly promising it. Just two basic campaigns, launched May 18. 3 - A tested, functioning campaign generating leads month after month, per the sales page — never delivered. 4 - He also discarded the reverse lead magnet I had built, which was already working, and insisted on a new one that recipients then complained about. His email copy had me claim I'd reviewed each person's LinkedIn "and had some ideas" — output that was clearly AI-generated, which annoyed recipients and damaged my reputation with the very audience I was trying to reach. Timeline: First campaign didn't arrive until March, with the wrong list. The staffer responsible then went silent, never replied, and didn't even turn off the campaigns. A second staffer made further errors and went two weeks without replying. On March 22, after I insisted, Jay took over himself — then was largely unavailable for nearly two months. He hadn't reviewed my site or demo videos and assumed I ran a high-ticket PR service for CEOs, when it's a low-ticket online course. He tried to charge $2,000 extra to wiggle out of an automation he'd promised on January 27 and again on video, until I produced the videos as proof. That automation was buggy and didn't work for over a week; I had to fix it myself. Last week I found the wrong list had been uploaded again — more angry replies. I notified Jay immediately and flagged that the 50,000 leads were never delivered. A week later: nothing. This is a documented breach of contract on a $10,000 program. I stand by every word. NOTE: Trustpilot's own "Transparent Flagging" data on this company's profile (under the "Flagging" tab) is worth a look: it has flagged 7 reviews a total of 12 times, every one of them negative — and of the reviews it got removed, all came down because the reviewer stopped responding to the repeated flags, none because a review was actually found to breach the rules. I'd encourage readers to check it themselves.

Ok guys - here are the facts. Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt. Search "Lead gen jay 1 star review" on google to see details and screenshots. - Client was passed between 4 of my staff because they were unbearable so I took over myself - 2 other companies contacted me and shared screenshots of this client doing this same thing to them. Wait till you see these emails! - They actually got AMAZING results. 8% reply rate. Deal closed in week 1 of sending. - We built this client an AI reply engine AND a SaaS lead magnet - They left this review after we refused to continue providing them services after the contract ended. Their demands became impossible. This was inevitable. Thanks for trusting me. This breaks my heart.
