Not so happy birthday present
My friends in the US sent me a digital Airbnb gift card for my birthday since I live in the EU. When I reached out to explain I was unable to access the website due to being in another country, instead of suggesting solutions they simply responded "USD gift cards can only be redeemed by users who reside in the USA" followed by directions for the US-based recipient. I then responded saying that I am not in the US and asked how they would suggest solving it and if not, if the purchaser can cancel the purchase. Their response " Our gift cards are country-specific, as stated on the purchasing page, the order status email, the confirmation receipt, and the recipient gift card email. Unfortunately, we are unable to convert the funds into other currencies." In the end I was able to forward the gift card to my friends and they redeemed it on my behalf. They could have suggested this along with other options and not kept repeating "Country specific. Cannot convert." over and over.
