KO StorageReviews of kostorage.com

KO Storage falsely advertised how secure their facilities are (they brag about how secure they are on their website) and someone broke into my mother's unit so all of my belongings were stolen. KO Storage is a nationwide company that has more than enough money for proper security and pest control. Several people on Google reviews have complained about the lack of security due to their unit getting broken into and the company has done nothing but increase the prices. My mother's unit is $150/month (it has been increased to $185/month without prior notice even though the lease states that a notice would've been given) so I would expect there to be a security guard on the premises to watch the cameras but since there isn't, their surveillance system is useless; it doesn't even prevent theft. There are also mice everywhere with no mouse poison. They are overcharging people for unsecure and unsanitary units. I've filed a police report (25-35931 in Springfield, MO, USA) and reported them to Missouri Consumer Protection ( CC-2026-04-003339). I want to sue for emotional distress, false advertising, and damages. Additionally, the site manager allegedly cuts the lock off of a unit without making sure if the person asking for the lock to be cut off is the owner. KO Storage also claims that they take theft seriously but they don't, no matter how many break-ins happen, they do nothing. They don't even bother hiring someone to watch the cameras.

Horrible place to do business with. Bunch of thieves. They constantly raise the rent. One day late and they lock up your unit. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I cannot think of anything good to say about this company.

The storage unit was clean and easy to rent. We wanted to transfer it into someone else's name at the end of the month. I talked with headquarters, in Minneapolis. The lady kept telling me that they would send a form within 48 hours and that did not happen. The forms have not been sent. Very difficult to go through the procedure. She refused to give us the phone # of the person that takes care of the local KO storage units. I have spent hours trying to get this resolved. No help from headquarters. There has to be a more efficient way of doing this.

These guys are offering a $57/month rate for my unit...and charging me $187! When called on it, they said there was absolutely nothing they could do about it unless I completely move out and start over. You know, because it's super hard to print off a new contract. My ex-wife rented this unit 15 years ago. There is no telling how long they've been charging us 4X market rate. But when I "inherited" it, I find out they're a bunch of lazy crooks with possibly the worst customer service in history. Everyone in the area is cheaper than their aging, dirty facility. I even found water damage in my "climate controlled" unit. So just to be clear: this facility is about a billion years old. Hardly anyone rents there because it's gross. There are half a dozen brand new storage facilities within a few miles. The only reason you'd ever keep your stuff in this rathole is because it's already there and it's a hassle to move. And they KNOW IT, because they're offering their units online for a fraction of what they insist on charging me. Their business model is inertia. SO STAY AWAY. If you care about your stuff these guys will ruin it. If you care about your money these guys will rip you off and then hassle you. I leave very few reviews. I'm going to leave this review all over the internet.

These people are evil. They allowed everything I own to be destroyed by rats and would not reimburse for anything. I have pictures of the damage

I have been a customer at the KO storage in Junction City KS for over 2 years. The first big change was new ownership--- 2025 equals rates increased-- next change was insurance increases to the storage unit rates of 13 dollars a month (156 a year just for insurance) - unless you provide proof of your own insurance-- the next increase was annual in JAN -- cost analysis justification--- next increase 2026--was at random - based on " seasonal market value" of similar units within your area. --- so Prices are never locked in for a full year rental contract---- this is a problem- without a year contract locking in your monthly price -- the owners are authorized in the fine print of your rental agreement to increase the rates by providing you 30 days notice of the rate increase and there is nothing you can do about it. At this point I am taking my business elsewhere --- that's the part this company doesn't understand --- they are not the only show in town.

Apparently, someone broke into our storage locker. Who knows when??? I cannot get a hold of anybody left several messages and don't even know what has been stolen. A temporary lock was put on, but nobody will call me or contact me so that I can check and see what was stolen and file a police report. Was on hold forever from some call center overseas and they told me that there was a scheduled walk-through five days from now. It is ridiculous that nobody is contacting me and I cannot get in to see what has been stolen! I do not recommend this company at all. There are no security cameras and it sounds like nobody's even on site at the facility for weeks on end! horrible unreliable company!
