Very good personal attention
Very good personal attention, such as airport pickup. Food choices generally good, but service, food, and rooms poor at Backcountry Lodge. Two hours for dinner - mostly involved waiting for next course and entries were poor. Several days were overall wasted. No need for two days at Backcountry lodge. Talkeetna was a waste as all of group was back at Lodge within two hours. Two cruises basically over the same body of water was a waste of time. Two days in Cordova not needed, especially when accommodations were poor. The unexpected plane ride over the glaciers was trip highlight. We had been to Alaska before and expected a great trip. Very disappointed. Tour manager Jeremy Riddle was very good and personable.
Response from John Hall's AlaskaJul 14, 2021
Thank you for the detailed comments. We are obviously unhappy to hear that you thought your trip anything less that amazing. With COVID's interference there has been a large shortfall in finding staff to manage normal hotel operations and dining operations in some areas of Alaska. It sounds like this played into your slow service at the BackCountry Lodge, a visit that almost always ranks as a top highlight for our guests. Your comments will be reviewed with BackCountry Lodge management. As for Cordova, the Orca Adventure Lodge is not a 4-star accommodation, but a basecamp for exploring the area. Expectations were set that were not met and we will review this with our marketing going forward for this tour. Our goal is to bring guests to places that you cannot access through other tour companies, and thus the glacier flightseeing and private access to Prince William Sound marine wildlife and glaciers. John Hall Sr. has reviewed your comments and so have the rest of the family, including myself.
