I have had the worst experience with Kinetico. With in the first two months of me owning a water softner and reverse osmosis with them they both gave me problems. The reverse osmosis started leaking and they said they couldn't come till many days afterwards. Then my water softener stopped working and left my glass shower doors looking all spotty with tons of calcium build up and once they found it was broke again they said they couldn'tcome out till a couple of days. With all that going on I had just started my new job and bought a new house after my divorce. So much was going on in my life at the moment and I thought I had set up the direct deposit (I probly did) and they said I hadn't paid up. They dropped my credit score 60 points and I was 20 away from 800. All that for a system that hasn't been working 70 percent of the time.

We purchased a newly built home and installed a high end Kinetico water softener system. It leaked. It was replaced with another one - it leaked! What happened - you asked. The tech said — no o rings! Third time — it’s working! However, irrigation folks installing our landscape discovered low and insufficient pressure! Called the builders plumbing contractor, who plumbed the water pipes to handle the incoming city water, and says …OOPS, the Kinetico tech who installed the high end water softener failed to note that the plumbing system was NOT plumb to divert hard water to the irrigation lines and branch off before the softener. Result— we have been watering our landscaping with water from our softener system which replaces hard minerals with higher sodium content. Poor manufacturing and installation processes!

It was installed about a year ago. Never was able to connect to wifi. Recently noticed water leak, shut down the water, a technician came after several days. Few hours after the repair, we had a massive leak and flood in the mechanical room, the leak caused hole in the dry way, had to replace the entire dry wall. They came again repaired, but few days after the same issue. It also damaged the drainage system, the water from shower wasn't draining properly. Too many issue, it's a completely faulty system, not recommended

We bought a home with a 5-year old Kinetico water softener. The water in the house would come out frothy and SUPER salty. We had Kinetico come and service it. They said that the issue was that we needed to replace the PRV out by the street, which would cost $1,000. We had a non-Kinetico plumber come out to change out the PRV and see if he could help solve the softener issue. The first thing he pointed out was that the Kinetico filter hadn't been changed in what looked like years - yet the Kinetico service peeps had been there "servicing" the system just a few days earlier. He noted that he wouldn't touch a Kinetico system, but he showed us how to change the filter and charged $200 to replace the PRV. (One fifth the price of Kinetico.) That PRV and filter change made no difference in the salt water issue, so we had Kinetico come out again. (Another $250 even though it was under warranty.) They came out again and replaced some small components in the system head, BUT also said that they recommend that we replace the system with one of their newer models because our warranty was about to expire AND the salt would probably return. The new system would be ~$7,500 if we bought it before our warranty expired. It would be more expensive if we waited a month (after the expiration date). Three weeks later the salty water returned - extreme frothy, salty water. When taking a shower, it is as if we are bathing with ocean water. I generally wash my face afterward with bottled water to get the salt off my lips. Obviously, we can't drink the water like that. So if you crave salt water and want a softener that will last less than 5 years and want to pay $250 per service call (when under warranty) Kinetico is the choice for you. It has been disappointing. We are replacing the system with a less expensive and hopefully more reliable system.

Significantly worsened customer service and product quality recently. Been 13+ years' customer but firmly decided to switch. Team wrongly advised me to use AquaScale cartridge on an AquaGuard system, so it led me to pay for the wrong cartridge, which also took more than two weeks to arrive. The team took 1+ week to just send it off via DPD and only responded upon a chaser. Obviously, the cartridge did not work on the undersink filter head, and instead of sending the right cartridge or refunding, asked to return the wrong cartridge with no guarantees it would not take so long again to receive the correct one. In the past, they used to just provide a free extra upon their fault, rather than requiring customer to go through full onerous routine of returning. Further, the customer service advisor JH, came off rude and negligent in email communications, making grammar and syntax mistakes, which made me question if it is in reality an impostor agent not fluent in English. Her colleague LT was the one who wrongly pointed me to order the wrong cartridge for the system. Further, JH made false statements that there is no system that will allow to do both scale reduction and functions of AquaGuard cartridge, whereas their direct competitors like Brita already offer a CHEAPER cartridge undersink systems that do in all in one go. Overall, just avoid this company as they do not care about their customers or quality of service. Used to be better in the past, but now they simply are not worth it either price or quality wise. UPD: I did receive a refund, which is a big improvement, but the experience overall was still negative, hence, retaining the rating.

The unit was delivered with condensation inside. The unit was in stalled. The bypass valve leaked. The unit fails to regenerate automatically. The unit was purchased via Leroy Merlin online via a company in Spain named BricocasaEs. All 3 of the companies involved will not solve the problem.

Kinetico of West Texas. BEWARE! Water evaluated Aug 20, 2025....Nov 5, 2025 K5 whole house Softener and K7 RO installed. Ater I was told it would be 7 to 10 days for installation, it took them 70 days to "get the units in from the mfgr" & another 7 days to schedule & do the installation. I paid $5,500.00 up front for the system . WHAT A MISTAKE! Today, 24 hours after installation, NO Drinking water!!!! And wake up this morning to find the tank is leaking under my sink! Review ongoing....

I purchased what I was told was a full Kinetico dechlorination and softening system. What I actually received was a modified, substandard setup that even their own staff later admitted will require expensive “rebedding” every few years — about $700 each time. That is not normal maintenance; it’s the consequence of them cutting corners and selling a system designed to fail prematurely. When I contacted Kinetico corporate, they initially agreed the system should be replaced with a proper dual-tank setup — exactly what I paid for. Then the local dealer backtracked, insisted that “rebedding” is fine, and claimed it’s just part of ownership. Corporate later deferred right back to the dealer, leaving me stuck between two entities pointing fingers at each other. This entire experience has been deceptive, exhausting, and costly. I now have zero confidence in this dealer or Kinetico’s oversight. Selling customers “modified” systems that don’t perform as represented — then expecting them to pay hundreds every few years to fix the resulting damage — is unacceptable. I will be leaving this same honest review on every major platform so other customers don’t get hoodwinked the way I was.
