It wasn't straightforward, but after finally restoring my iPhone and overcoming the "iPhone Restore Problem" (thanks for nothing Apple!), my phone is unlocked and working. I tried AT&T's official unlock procedure without success, then a couple of the bargain unlocking services. Nothing worked. Finally I bit the bullet and paid only slightly more to Keys2iPhone.com. It worked! I now have a fully functioning unlocked iPhone. I should have come here in the first place and not wasted my time being frustrated by everyone else.
