Lost several domains in the Omnis takeover, all because they turned off auto renew on all of them. Now I am without domains that I have had since the very beginning
Response from JetHostOct 23, 2026
We understand how hard it is to lose domains you’ve had since the very beginning. We’ve gone through the account history carefully. The domains that are missing expired and were deleted at your previous provider months before your account was migrated, some of them years ago. Your previous provider sent renewal reminders to the email address on the account well ahead of each expiry date, followed by expiration notices. Every domain that was still active at the time of the migration was moved to your JetHost account, and the migration didn’t change any renewal settings.
Because an email on its own is easy to miss, at JetHost we send both an email and an SMS before a domain expires, so the reminder gets through either way.

I'm not deducting a couple of stars…
I'm not deducting a couple of stars because the person that helped me was so fantastic, he made up for something I find pretty troubling. I'm a big fan of clicking on 'Please Don't Sell My Personal Information' and do it consistently - it's important to me. The way JetHost has their site set up, you have to leave that be in order to enable the chat feature. That's right - if you want the chat window to show up, you have to agree to give them the ability to sell / share your personal information. Pretty high on the ick-factor. My previous provider was bought by JetHost and I needed technical assistance. I'll stick around for now - hopefully this is an oversight that can be corrected and not a business decision. They're definitely not the only player in town...
This is part two, meant as a response to the response from Jethost. I'm glad you are able to personally tell the person that helped me that he was amazing :) With regards to the other info you mentioned I might be a little skeptical - you say you don't sell any personal information (which I appreciate) but as I deal with cookies, I'm asked to go through them if I don't want that information sold / shared. I hope you see the incongruity. If, as a company policy, you don't sell / share someone's personal info, there's no need to say anything about that. Maybe instead, you could just say "We never share / sell your personal information' and then allow the user to decide which cookies they want to adjust.
I just reread what I wrote and I did indeed write sell as opposed to sell / share. On my end this is about privacy. It doesn't matter to me if you are sharing or selling. I actually want you to make money! Then you can stay in business and provide the services that you do. It's why we're all customers. I just want to have a say in where my personal information goes, whether you get paid for it or not.
Update number 2 :) I just saw your updated response to my response and thought I would comment. As for the words imposed upon you by California privacy laws '“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”' I'm again feeling that more explanation might be necessary. Maybe it's just me. As you explained (and I quote) '“share” has a specific meaning: it covers marketing cookies used for advertising across sites, even when no money changes hands.' what exactly does that mean? Are you sharing info to other unrelated companies? What kind of info? Can you be specific? Is it your own marketing? Like "We have 1,700,000 customers and we are growing by 1% monthly?" That's pretty different than the kind of info that could be shared, maybe based on my browser habits etc. Even if my browser habits (a very common practice from what I understand) aren't being shared, I think many of us would like to know what kinds of things ARE being shared and to what KINDS of companies. Marketers not in your employ? Data brokers? As I mentioned in my original review, all I want is to be able to make decisions about my privacy.
Towards the end of your response, when you wrote 'So the say you’re asking for is already yours: keep marketing cookies off, and nothing is shared that way, while the chat keeps working as usual..." if you're saying that you completely removed the restrictions that I encountered in order to use the chat as a way of obtaining the support I needed, that's great :) Cookie options are supposed to pop up for the consumer at the initial window. It should cover all experiences between the site and the consumer from then on. If I have to make adjustments after that initial cookie 'agreement' that erode my initial choices to access a service (technical support) in one of the many ways that you provide support - support that, as a customer, I'm already paying for - I think it looks a little 'tricky' and doesn't instill the trust I like to have with the businesses that I give money to. Thanks for your continued engagement - I look forward to learning more from your next response. May all matters be resolved by then!
------------------------------------------------------------
At this point things are getting frustrating - last response here. I certainly wish that this was clearly answered (but it wasn't)... quote "So the say you’re asking for is already yours: keep marketing cookies off, and nothing is shared that way, while the chat keeps working as usual..." if you're saying that you completely removed the restrictions that I encountered in order to use the chat as a way of obtaining the support I needed, that's great :)'... I'm done going back and forth; what started out as a legitimate question about privacy has devolved - for both of us I'm sure. At this point, the only experience worth having was the with the person who helped me over the phone. That's not enough. No longer worth 5 stars, and at this point I don't expect to be a long term customer.

Thank you for raising this, and for the kind words about our colleague. We’ll make sure he hears them. We understand why that option looks alarming, so let us clear it up: we don’t sell our customers’ personal information.
The chat needs cookie consent simply because it handles what you share with us there, such as account details or the specifics of a technical issue, so it can’t load when all cookies are declined. We can see how that comes across as confusing, and we appreciate you pointing it out.
You don’t have to choose between your privacy and the chat. In our cookie settings you can switch off marketing cookies completely and the chat will still be there for you. And if you’d rather not change anything, you can reach us by phone, email, or a ticket, and you’ll get the same help. We’re really glad you’re staying with us.
Update, in reply to your follow-up: thank you for coming back to explain your view, it’s a fair point. The wording “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” comes word for word from California privacy law, and there “share” has a specific meaning: it covers marketing cookies used for advertising across sites, even when no money changes hands. That’s why the option exists and why it sounds so alarming. So the say you’re asking for is already yours: keep marketing cookies off, and nothing is shared that way, while the chat keeps working as usual. We also appreciate you wanting us to do well. That means a lot.
Update 2: thank you again. Everything you’re asking about is listed in the Details tab of our cookie banner: each category, every provider, what each cookie does, and a link to each provider’s own privacy information. That list reflects exactly what runs on our site, so it’s the most accurate answer we can give.
