I usually buy keys and bonds however for my recent transaction I was told I would be getting 50% more keys and as I made the purchase I was only given just 450 and not what was promised which was 675. I tried everywhere to get in touch with them but there is literally nowhere to get help from. No emails nor a person I can contact to resolve the issue. Its all automated service. Conned out of £77.

Fui banido devido a macro bot

If you value your time and your money, do not play this game.
Worst gaming company in the history of gaming companies. A 1-star review is being too generous. They have the most abysmal customer service, if it even exists at all. There is no reliable way to contact them. They have no e-mail. No phone number. If you want to speak to a moderator you have to tweet them on Twitter or message them on Reddit, and even if you do, don't expect a response back. If you are having a serious issue with your account (example: you've been hacked) and you need help immediately, their website directs you to a FAQ. A 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 FAQ. They have essentially alienated their entire player base and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
The game is not what it used to be. I saw the transformation with my own eyes. What once was a thriving social MMORPG is now just a cash cow for Jagex. Years of hard work were washed away with the release of the Squeal of Fortune and Treasure Hunter. The rich can now buy their way into the game, while the rest are left in the dust. The micro-transactions aren't only confined to Treasure Hunter - they are literally 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. Nearly every holiday event is just a re-skin of the one before it. There is no story or substance to the events anymore. It's just: collect these fragments/shards and get a reward when you reach a certain amount. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵.
I guess I wouldn't even mind if the money from the micro-transactions was going towards bringing the players good content and updates, but it's not. The past 3 or 4 years have been filled with empty promises. For example: Weather system, pet park, the next installment in the Elder Gods quest series, the Construction skill rework, group ironman mode, bank rework, were all promised and outright cancelled without openly announcing it. The RuneScape mobile app - which would allow players to enjoy RuneScape on their phones - was promised to be released in Winter of 2017 and has 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 just been released. They said they weren't going to take moderators from other projects and put them to work on mobile, but they did, and they still couldn't release it on time.
If you value your time and your money, do not play this game. The player base was so angry and so distraught over how drastically Jagex changed the game, that they had to actually release a 'nostalgic' version from 2007 known as Old School to keep most of their veteran players interested. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?
As for me, I'm moving on. I've spent far too much time, put far too much love and hard work into this game, and have been hurt too deeply to ever go back to it. There have been many times where I took a break from RuneScape only to return a few months later. Not this time. I seriously hope that they take a good, long look at what they are doing and how they treat their loyal players. I know I'm not the only one who's leaving and never coming back.

No listed contact information
No listed contact information. Has not played for a few years, returned, was apparently banned last year from a hacker. No appealing when getting hacked. So in short, if you get hacked and banned from the hacker doing things, you are on your own. 15 year old account removed because they dont give option to tell them you have been hacked. Not going to play from start. Never got a mail that my account was compromised or anything about being banned, but what can you do, certainly NOT contact them or be able to appeal it

Why Would Anyone Want to Play Now?
I don't want to make this a fight against Jagex. I liked them and their game very much! But, I am an honest player and person and am being treated as a criminal. I am truthful and honest christian man of 59 years and I will be truthful, honest, and respectful here, too!
Jagex has become much worse than a Bully, and they are bordering on "crooks" by their actions by the "My way or the highway" attitude they exhibit! Overwhelmingly, it seems that 1000s of customer accounts have had the same thing happen to them and Jagex has no solution for customers to get back into these accounts. Accounts that were not played for some number of years at the time before Jagex had implemented any form of robust security, were potentially hacked or stolen, or even something much less nefarious. Now, people want to come back and they have nothing to come back to! The account is taken, banned or deleted and there is nothing further you can do to communicate with anyone! Their automated process to unlock an account may work 80-90% of the time, but there's a huge number of us without our old accounts now that are stuck, and I've seen other instances where support is extremely lacking! Jagex may or may not know about it, and there's no way that I have found to get any help or meaningful response from them because it seems they are not set up to be contacted or bothered! I wasn't given a chance to communicate, find out what happened to my account, appeal any problem or find out why? Doesn't every person deserve at least this?
I am disabled from being run over by a drunk driver on my motorcycle as a teen. I played this game together with my son and we had a glorious time and it helped me forget about my chronic pain. I earned 14 capes, including the quest cape, and had Slayer at 94 and many others in the 90s. All this is gone now, years of effort, money and time and I don't know why. I also accumulated great wealth, too. Now, I have some unknown beginner account linked to mine, never seen it before in my life, and mine is gone, and they are happy to walk away from me, and from you! What's worse is that Jagex is responsible for causing the confusion, but won't take ownership or help you navigate it! :-(
They have taken an EXTREMELY Arrogant position about providing any help with your problem, from their no-help website running on auto-pilot, with no way to speak with a human if their canned answers don't address your issue, to their automated and permanent banning process. I invested hundreds to thousands of dollars over many, many years funding two accounts. I was even asked to be a moderator, which is proof that I was a good and helpful community player, not causing any troubles and was considered a boon to the game!! I frequently helped new players get started and would stand and answer questions. I stopped playing about a year after my son graduated high school and went away to college when I had to address more back, knee and spine issues and surgeries. I came back to find this unpleasant email association process and an unknown account link to mine, but with no way to find or link my old account. Is it gone, permanently deleted? How can I know? Can I get it all back and my capes? Not only does Jagex not have any help to get you back in the game when their automated processes don't work, but they are actually responsible for causing the lockout or theft of the account from not implementing sufficient security software in their platform for years and years, despite a growing number of these hacking issues. I have done nothing wrong and I lost my account that has years of effort, money and time invested. No player would want to start over only for the possibility of losing all progress again. I've tried everything to recover the account and it needs some help from their people, because the problems appears to be in their system configuration and not anything I can do from here. This isn't rocket science, it just needs attention and someone who cares to provide the proper support to look into this and to communicate with a person! I cannot recover the account and am so angry that I cannot get any help from them that I cannot in good conscience recommend that someone else play the game and experience the same thing! If it happened to me and these other reviewers who are complaining, it will happen to anyone!
Lastly, this is not personal! Jagex just needs to realize that the passion and anger is because we loved the game so much that we supported you and made you successful. I even tried to make it better and invested my time and money on others in the game. Now, when we need the support of Jagex, they are not there, we feel that it's unfair, and we feel jilted. The instructions are not helpful, there's no other solutions offered, and we spend several days trying to figure out what to do with new accounts now from their convoluted website of "auto-pilot instructions". Pages and pages of "Blah, Blah, Blah..." are used in place of providing any MEANINGFUL support!! This doesn't answer your question or work for your situation? TOO BAD!! You can click a thumbs down on the help article. Maybe in another decade it will change, maybe not? The implementation for auto-pilot help is faulty, too stringent, and not thorough or good for all situations. Some of them do need human intervention. A simple mistake at login or failed recovery attempts, which failed because your system has problems or corrupt information stored for a particular account, which we can't change. When I attempt to, it says I've been flagged as a hacker trying to get into someone elses account. OH MY!! The support topics aren't helpful in the least! Once we are locked out, it takes an act of GOD to clear it. This is done on automation for 100% of the issues, and many things just slip through the cracks and leave no way to move forward. It shouldn't be SO Dysfunctional?? I've written to Jagex and received no reply, response or explanation as to what happened with my accounts. Maybe they are embarrassed to respond? Maybe someone did something terrible on my accounts? WHO KNOWS!! No emails were sent to me about any changes or problems. This is the confusion and discontent they started, and what they continue to promote, whether they realize it or not.
The account security issues that were so easily hacked before and became a problem was from THEIR archaic security measures that were implemented in the beginning, years ago, never changed or upgraded until more recently, and was cause for all of this hacking and corruption now. Instead of honorably and fairly resolving problems that occurred through this, taking ownership and erroring on the side of caution to protect players and providing justice, they have unilaterally excused themselves from any wrong-doing or as any cause of the problems from this faux pas and have punished everyone else who was involved, instead of helping us, and they continue to do so! They've left many of us in the dirt, money and account taken, services rendered, problem solved, NEXT?!! It's also why the game has not taken off or has the support like other games. There is a bad taste from people who were essentially cheated (I don't know a better word) after paying money and have nothing to show for it. I know Jagex doesn't care to be a huge game if the community is not safe and the game honest. Great, I agree! But, this isn't even close to that model and instead is exclusive of people who had no hand in causing any of the problems! There shouldn't be and doesn't need to be collateral damage from any support decision or failure!! The fact that there is not a huge fan base should make support easier and better, not worse. It would seem to allow you to address issues more comprehensively, on a case-by-case basis, communicating with each person to explain problems and get their rebuttal and story of what happened, instead of providing a blanket solution for all that doesn't apply to all! Seriously, why would anyone want to play this game with NO support and being punished when you had no wrong doing, only to lose your account and not be told why or be able to get help? It's not conducive to good gaming or a good customer experience! I really thought Jagex had been fair and gone the extra mile to do so in the past. I had seen this in other problems with the Bots that were so prevalent and they were forthcoming about solutions. I know they are better, at least in showing an attempt to be fair to all! But, it makes me very sad to type this. This is something a Banana Republic would do, not a civilized, intelligent organization! Someone in Jagex needs to look at Jagex from the outside, looking in! Maybe you will then see what we all see and make the few changes needed to truly make Jagex a fair and great gaming site! But, accounts should not be handled so willy-nilly that a person can lose everything through no wrong-doing of their own. Thanks for listening!

7 words: My account for Runescape was hijacked.
When I was originally hacked, I reported the player to Jagex. After that? Absolutely NOTHING. After being hacked (not falling for scams, mind you) multiple times, I quit Runescape for a long time. Then, I came back to it.
This is where I found that my account has been perma-banned for "macroing," and the only evidence was basically an opinion piece by Jagex. I have NEVER macroed or botted in my time playing Runescape.
Apparently, lots of other REAL people have this happening to them as well.
A fair warning - Jagex is paid off by those hackers and botters, and they will punish REAL players and not those cheaters.
DO NOT PLAY.

The customer service is a joke
I absolutely love the game Runescape. However, the staff are terrible. Jagex has the worst customer service, it's almost non-existent. I have had a Runescape account since 2006. I stopped playing in 2009-2016. I've been playing for the past 3 months now and I have been scammed twice! The first time I was scammed was from somebody whom I thought was a friend, (I've known them since 2009). After the scam, I immediately contacted Jagex, giving them the name of the scammer and what had occurred. I had taken pictures of the scam taking place and offered to show them in my email. You'd think that these imbeciles would be jumping to help a loyal runescape member and punish the scammer, but guess what? They did absolutely NOTHING! No reply, Nothing at all! I buy a lot of treasure hunter keys and I also pay membership fees. But no, Jagex has no idea what customer service is or how to value loyal players. It's like their employees are all a bunch of nerdy 30 year olds who still live in their moms basement. Absolutely no action on dealing with scammers, and no skill on customer service, nothing at all. Scammers are everywhere on RuneScape. It's a complete joke. The second time I was scammed was a player mod, (or someone that knew how to manipulate the system and somehow get the moderators crown next to their name.) When this occurred, it was about a week after I had gotten scammed and tried to contact Jagex. With that being said, the scammer with the mod symbol contacted me with a very elaborate scheme saying that I was nominated to be a player mod. So I'm thinking well this makes since because I'm a loyal rule abiding player and I just reported a scammer a week ago, so they must know I would be a good player mod. On top of thinking that, he also had a crown next to his name. Anyways I was sent a link which said RuneScape dot com/ pmod. I would say .com but no links allowed. It was incredibly legit, same interface as RuneScape and eveything was identical to the real thing. So what the link brought up was a forum to apply to be a player mod. I had to fill out all these detailed questions as to why I'd be a good player mod. After I submitted it, i logged back onto my RuneScape account, and everything I owned was completely gone! Nothing was left. So I sent jagex a long detailed account (once again) as to what happened including the players name and screen shots. Guess what happened? NOTHING. Not even an email back! Complete joke of a customer service! It's been 2 months since this happened by the way.
