It's just not helpful one bit, their "Smart score" is very strict, and teachers who assign them, can't alter the scoring system, and even the "Answer X of Questions in a row" are even worse. The overview is even worse, as it doesn't explain how you got it wrong as good as other platforms do Whoever designed IXL, needs to make it less strict on wrong answers, once it fixes that, then I'll change my rating

I've been using this torture device since 4th grade. I hope IXL gets shut down.

IXL presents itself as a smart and adaptive learning platform. In practice, it feels more like a stress test than an educational tool. The scoring system is the biggest problem. You can answer a long streak of questions correctly, miss one, and watch your score drop hard. That does not motivate improvement. It makes students afraid to make mistakes. Learning requires trial and error. IXL treats errors like failure instead of part of the process. The repetition is exhausting. Instead of helping you truly understand a concept, it pushes you to grind through similar questions until you hit a specific SmartScore number. That is not mastery. That is compliance. It rewards endurance more than understanding. The explanations are inconsistent. Sometimes they are too basic and skip over the reasoning that actually caused the mistake. Other times they feel disconnected from the way the question was presented. When feedback is unclear, improvement slows down. The overall experience feels mechanical and cold. There is little engagement and almost no sense of progress beyond a fluctuating number. For students who already struggle with confidence, this system can make things worse. IXL measures performance aggressively, but it does not build confidence effectively. If the goal is deep understanding and healthy learning habits, there are better options available.

This is a horrible program it barely helps me and if you are not 90 and get a question wrong you lose like 50% of you're progress.

It is literally torture, it doesnt support learning, getting a question right rewards you with literally nothing, getting one wrong is so punishing, it could take hours. in addition it is incrediby borring, it is actually draining you're brain. when students are asked to do IXL everyday, it causes stress, anger and a hatred for school. it is as flexible a a steel rod and extremely punishing. in concluesion, IXL is punishing, not flexible, extremely borring, stressful and rage inducing.

When ever you get a single question wrong your "smart score" goes down by around 8-10%, but whenever you get a question right you get like 2%, it makes no sense!

this is coming from a student.the worst thing ever!It ruins all me and my classmates mantle health.so unfair and low-key depressing.if I could I would not even give it a star.DON'T GET IXL PLEASE!!!!!!!!
