I cant even explain how bad this app is one if you get one answer wrong that was way up your grade IT BE BRINGING YOUR GRADE DOWN SO MUCH and not explaining how the ENTIRE SCHOOL USES IT oh and ima 7th grader so i got to use this torture method at home because teachers be contacting parents saying *OMG this is the BEST education app ever* ITS NOT!

First of all, the ‘Smartscore’ system is absolutely annoying and almost made me break my Chromebook. This was a few weeks ago, but I distinctly remember getting stuck in a loop where I would get to ~75, then get one question wrong and get sent back to 63. I would then answer 2 questions, get back to the EXACT same number, and for SOME reason, the question would suddenly ramp up in difficulty, which then made me go back down. As a 7th grader who has ADHD, I literally grabbed the top lid part and shook it with all my might before throwing it shut. Second, they blatantly lie to you. ‘We address the emotional side of learning?’ The only emotions I’m feeling is anger and depression. And, despite them literally saying otherwise on their website, they sell your data. So then saying ‘We never do anything because it profits us’ is a lie I guess. Thankfully, my teachers never assigned it for homework or as a grade (for now), but I’ve still had to do it at the beginning of class every day this year in math. Thankfully thankfully, I’ve never used it in ELA, so I’ve never got to see that side of the site. TL;DR, do NOT use this scummy website.

Hello, I am a student and I am going to give a honest review of IXL. I've used this for 4 years and I hate it, not only because its for learning. In concept: an amazing idea, help students with a fun minigame made towards learning. It sucks after being made real. Let me give you an example: I have a 89 score, I am almost mastering the IXL with something I've been struggling with and need to complete for class. I get 1 right- I'm at 90 now. Then I get something wrong- suddenly I am at 58. Teachers assign these which seems to be a good idea, and it probably is, but a drastic drop in scores won't motivate students it makes them more scared of not making it to their goal and getting an F on that assignment. It isn't teaching either- you'd assume it walks you through like yknow a lesson or something, which it can, but that's optional. It doesn't introduce you to a new skill and explains it, it gives you a set of questions until you can memorize what answer equals what. It is more of a review than learning, its just stress and stress. This was made to promote learning, but ends up promoting stress and overall hate(you can ask any student who has used it, everyone hates it and groans synchronized when we get assigned one) It gets 1 star because it has Fuzz Bugs Factory Hop so when I'm on a focus session I can play during class.

Oh dear. I remember having to do IXL assignments in grade 6th-8th. I don’t think any online assignment tormented me as much as the ones on IXL. I remember one day I was so fed up I ran outside and walked in a field close to my home for like an hour just crying and yelling. I was seriously considering self-harm because of this horrible excuse for a learning platform. I’m happy I no longer have to do IXL assignments, but I feel bad for my younger cousins. I wish teachers wouldn’t assign this as much. I wish teachers just actually taught the subject instead of using this horrid platform. The breakdowns happened in 2023-2024, but I have to make the date of experience the present day.

Would probably be good if it was marketed as a revision app, coming from a third grader. This app sucks. Unlike Xtramath, which gives u questions + a little bit of stress - because of the timer, Ixl gives stress and absolutely no learning. I am a very sensitive child (I cry very easily) so the smartscore just makes me overthink and makes me cry myself to sleep.

Bad. its just. flat out bad. it sucked so much that the kids in my school made a petition to get it removed, and a TEACHER signed it. the prinipal had to do something, so yah, they did. there's a petition to get the owner to delete it, and I fully support that. I think it wouldn't even be ALL that bad, but teachers give me like 50 at once. please just get rid of it

Okay, i'm in 6th grade, and IXL makes my anxiety even worse. Dont listen to the teachers, listen to the students who are breaking down over this stupid website. If you are a school, get rid of this website! It teaches nothing except the fact that I have anger issues.

before I went to a school district that used ixl i loved math i loved school but after using ixl i have had a whole different view of school ixl has you learn something then never shows it again and the smartscore what is that for seeing how dumb i am because im not taking advice from a dumb algorithm
