I enrolled it last year and didn't want to renew it but they took 245 dollars from my account for renewal which was more than double the amount I enrolled. Worst experience

This is the most frustrating program I've ever used. I'm an advanced student who's pretty good at math, and I've been told I'm a fast learner, but this program does absolutely NOTHING it claims to do. I wish I could give 0 stars, but that's impossible. Oh wait, is 1 minus 1 not 0? Sorry IXL, obviously I'm stupid and your program is absolutely perfect. I've done actual research before writing this, so everything I type is based on my and other people's experiences. I hate this program so much, it's very glitchy and gives me markdowns for mistakes, like yesterday when I wrote "4 - 2 = 2" as a review, and it said it was wrong, saying the correct answer is "2 = 4 - 2". The "SmartScore" system is stupid, all the way down to its name. Getting a question correct from 0 - 80 gives big rewards for correct answers and small penalties for wrong answers, but from then on, a correct answer only gives 1 - 2 points and a wrong answer takes away 7 - 15 points. When you get one wrong, it says that it explains what you did, but it's very wrong. It adds unnecessary steps and doesn't truly explain what you did wrong. I'm 13 and in 7th grade, but I'm taking advanced 8th-grade math, and when my teacher assigned IXL to try to teach us scientific notation, I sat at my computer trying to get 100 as he assigned, but not a single person in my class even finished it, and everyone just rage quit. I cry more often because of IXL than I do with diagnosed depression. 0/5 stars, I would never recommend this hell to my worst enemy.

This app was created to be a platform for children to learn and gain knowledge. But in reality It creates anxiety to the student and could potentially lead to the user gaining depression. Along the topic of depression students may feel that they are losing knowledge and becoming dumber, when on ixl there is a point system in the beginning of the specific skill you gain 5-8 points for correct answers but when you hit the 50s you only gain 2-3 points but when answering incorrectly you lose 10-13 points. This point system on there "Skills" causes stress and anxiety to the student.

This is such a terrible app and it seems like we the students are the only ones that see it. Everyone else is brainwashed by this foolish dumb app. They say their goal is to “motivate kids” but the only thing they’re motivating is to skip school. Ixl makes learning harder and feels more stressful. This app sucks. This app is lying to your face.

IXL is easily the most frustrating and punitive tool I have ever been forced to use. It is a 'drill and kill' system that replaces actual teaching with endless, repetitive questions. The 'SmartScore' is designed to punish students for being human. If you get a question right, you might go up 2 or 3 points. But if you make one mistake-or even just a typo-it can drop you 10 to 12 points instantly. This 'one step forward, four steps back' algorithm turns what should be a 20-minute lesson into a two-hour hostage situation. It doesn’t reward mastery; it demands impossible perfection. When you finally do get something wrong, the 'explanation' is almost always useless. It’s robotic, hard to follow, and doesn't actually teach the concept. It just tells you that you’re incorrect and leaves you to figure out why, which is impossible if you didn't understand the lesson in the first place. This system is actively making me and my classmates hate math. It causes massive anxiety and crushes your self-esteem. There is nothing more discouraging than working for an hour, only to be further from your goal than when you started because of one mistake. I’m tired of hearing that teachers 'love' this program. The only reason they love it is because it makes their jobs easier. It gives them easy data and does the grading for them so they don't have to actually teach the material themselves. IXL makes 'fake promises' about helping kids learn, but in reality, it’s just a soul-sucking stress machine

I hate the smart score where it launches you from a 98 to a 62
