My grandmother could make a better website. And she has aids.

IXL overall is a cool and educational concept that COULD HAVE been really engaging. However, how it's executed is repetitive and stress/anxiety-inducing. In some extreme cases, some may feel stuck, unable to move, afraid to get something wrong, not wanting to risk going down an absurd number of points. There was a recent addition: IXL minis. These are short videos to try and help people understand a subject, but frankly, they aren't very effective. A lot of teachers use the 'Action Plan,' which assesses a student's fluency in different math areas. Instead of seeing which area is the lowest scored between classes and trying to make them more fluent in that area, they simply assign IXL assignments to each student that the Action Plan says they should work on. Unfortunately, this is what happens a lot and really shouldn't happen. Overall, IXL is really annoying and shouldn't be used on students. (Note that i am a student myself). #banixl

What the vast majority of the 430 reviews say; IT SUCKS. POINT BLANK. Every experience I have had with this website has been nothing but pure agony again and again. It has never correctly assessed skill level. It asks questions over and over and over again that have previously been marked as, "I have not learned this yet". Its mode of video education to teach students material they have not been taught in class is extremely hard to follow. I am unsure on the true benefit of this "learning tool" as all I have witnessed is the worsening of a want to learn.

I am (going to be after the summer) in 8th. I am NOT going to sugarcoat this or shorten this so if this is too long, my apologies. Terrible. I used to use IXL in elementary and OH MY LORDY it was Anxiety-Inducing. I still remember doing lines of symmetry in like 3rd or 4th (2017) grade, mastering it at least 3-5 (?) times and it taking FOREVER due to the fact the further you go, the less points you gain and the more you loose. I had a long streak and lost at least 10 points after getting a question wrong and beat myself up about it. I WAS 9 OR 8! I have ADHD and have always had it. I got really stressed out when I was on a roll and my "SmartScore" went down so many points. And why would you call it SMARTScore? Why not just points? When I couldn't understand something, my SS was low. I was like.. Dang. I'm not as smart as I think i am. I WAS AT A 7TH GRADE MATH LEVEL IN MY STATE TESTING. I am not shocked IXL is getting sued. Im going to be completely honest. You guys lied about the "Building Confidence!" and "Reassuring Feedback!", you deserve this lawsuit. You do not give information to kids before the lessons and the "helping" videos are terrible. The reassurance is just a big block of text. I'm also hearing teachers say THEY dont even understand the "Feedback" to correct the mistake. There is nothing else to focus on during the lessons. I was staring at the wall since my eyes hurt from the overly bright colors. I would zone out and get anxious when the teacher asked about IXL. The "Feedback" is very confusing for people in 1st-5th grade. It's not in terms that KIDS can understand. Every review from a teacher says "Yeah, we love the analytics! Yeah, we love seeing the data!" and everything THEY receive. Negative ones include ones like mine with mental disorders, trauma, stress, etc. We do NOT need to pressure this onto people of a young age. You charge $19.95 PER MONTH for torture. We have reached rock bottom with math apps like XTra Math and IXL.
