I am a 6th grader with diagnosed Predominantly Inattentive adhd, and this app causes pure torture. The system is built to polish each smart code to perfection. A correct answer to a question gives you 1-2 points while an incorrect answer removes 12-15 points from your current smart code. I and many students don’t learn from this app, it feels like a test disguised as a creative learning experience. Once done with an assignment I entirely forget what I just "learned" and move on with my life. The application is so irritating I have received 0 on my grades, including subjects I enjoy. If you’re thinking to get this for you child, I do not recommend. Very anxious, testing app that sells students information to third party handlers. If you’re more interested in the informational sale market please make your research.

As a 6th-grade student, I do not like using IXL very much. One of the biggest problems is that if you get a question wrong, your score can drop a lot, even if you were doing well before. It feels unfair because everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Then you have to answer many more questions just to get back to where you were. Another thing I do not like is that the lessons can be very repetitive. Sometimes it feels like I am answering the same type of question over and over again. After a while, it gets boring and makes learning less enjoyable. I think educational programs should be more fun and interactive so students stay interested. IXL can also be stressful because it takes a long time to reach a score of 100. Even when I understand the topic, I still have to keep answering questions, and I worry about making a mistake and losing points. This can make me feel frustrated instead of confident about what I have learned. The explanations are sometimes helpful, but other times I still feel confused after reading them. I wish there were more videos, examples, or games to help students understand difficult topics better. Overall, I think IXL focuses too much on getting every question correct instead of helping students enjoy learning. While it may help some students practice, it often feels frustrating, repetitive, and stressful for me. That is why I would give IXL 1 out of 5 stars.

I absolutely hate this app. I'm a student who has to use this app, it used to be daily but now it's mainly just for social studies, and it still absolutely sucks. You just repeat the same things over and over like Lexia Power-Up, and when you get something wrong it removes like five points, which doesn't help when you only get one point for getting something right. And it also is worse when some if not like half of their answers are wrong, I've had many experiences where it asked me a question I knew beforehand and says it's wrong. And if I search up the actual "correct" answer, it would be right. It's bs, and I hope my school fully stops using it.

As a sixth-grade student, I can say without a doubt that IXL SUCKS and is incredibly stressful. The Smart Score system is horrible and forces me to stay up late every single night whenever my math teacher assigns it. Imagine being at a score of 97, right on the edge of reaching 100, only to make a tiny typo or accidentally hit submit. Your score immediately drops down to a 90 or an 89. If you make another mistake after that, it plummets even lower, which for sure triggers you off with intense anxiety, and trust me i know what it feels like. Aside from the awful grading system, the platform teaches me absolutely nothing. When I get stuck on a concept I don't understand, the explanations IXL provides make zero sense. It is deeply frustrating that the teachers at my school use this for a actual homework grade instead of just assigning regular worksheets. Furthermore, the "rewards" IXL offers are completely useless. What am I supposed to do with digital badges that don't do anything and a boring profile page? If they actually wanted to motivate students, they should let us unlock fun minigames instead. On top of that, the system is incredibly rigid and only accepts one specific method to solve a problem. I prefer to use faster, easier shortcuts, so I get highly confused when I am penalized for not using their complicated methods. Even my parents absolutely hate IXL. My mom and dad stress out the moment they hear I have it for homework. The pressure for perfection is so overwhelming that I have even had a full mental breakdown from constantly getting pushed backward. In other words, IXL is an exhausting, anxiety-inducing platform that punishes students for learning rather than actually helping them succeed.
