stupid IXL why do you have to exist

1. The smartscore system makes you feel very stressed. 2. Easy questions give more points, but harder questions that you spend more time on give you almost nothing. 3. The high-stakes environment of the challenge zone makes you feel even more stressed. 4. Even if you didn't answer the question yet, the submit button sometimes doesn't prevent you from submitting your answer accidentally.

I'm a sophomore in high school. My current school uses IXL, and it is infuriating. I've been using this site for about 3 years now, and I feel as if I've learned nothing. Firstly, the layout of the website is confusing and frustrating. Nothing has any description or reason to do what it does, so you're just sitting there clicking things until you end up doing a series of questions. Along with this, there's no indication on what you got wrong when you get it wrong. You also barely get any choice on what you learn. You can get a vague idea of what you're learning, but more often than not, each topic only has 15 questions. So you're sitting there doing questions over and over again, learning jack squat. Also, you never get any explanations of what you did wrong. It's like throwing a kid into a pool and telling them to swim, without ever teaching them beforehand. This would be fine if IXL was used as a testing site, but it's instead used as a daily activity. So it's nothing but frustrating. Not only that, but the questions are poorly written and even have mistakes on occasion. IXL does not care about students or teachers, they do not care about your education, all they care about is making money off of schools foolish enough to use this tragedy of a website. It's baffling to me that teachers make students use this site. It teaches nothing. If any teacher put themselves in the shoes of a student and spent 20 minutes of their time on this website, they would instantly realize what a mistake it was to include this in the curriculum. There is not a single upside. Do not use this.

So unbelievably punishing and demotivating. It doesn't even teach you, it's simply a testing program.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IXL. IT TOOK ME 15 DAYS STRAIGHT TO FIGURE OUT AN IXL AND I WAS CORRECT EVEN A CALCULATOR SAID ITS MULTIPLYING

the diagnostic takes too long and is boring and is choppy and the levels get erased in too short of a time period

IXL punishes you for making a mistake. You get a question right and get 2 points. Get a question wrong and lose 15 points. Any system that does that is bad and it should be removed. My parents made me do it and I wanted to do anything else. I would rather watch paint dry then use IXL. Also there are some people who said that they got a question write but IXL said that they got it wrong. I never had to deal with that. I'm not saying it does not exist but I just didn't see it.

ixl is so stressful and i learned that the hard way, i remember in the 4th grade i had to do ixl and i just couldn’t get it, i tried so many times but i couldn’t get off zero, i get to at least 5 or 10 and go right back down to zero because they remove many points if i get it wrong, i felt so stupid and useless because i didn’t understand it and they just expected me to know what to do even though i couldn’t grow at all, i cried so many times in one ixl lesson that i got the baddest headache ever, i was working on it from 6pm to 12 in the morning, and like i said because i felt so stupid and useless by the time it was 12:40+ my mom told me i could stop now because i had school in a few hours. i know that doesn’t sound that bad, just in a big rage about not knowing how to do it but that ruined my entire 4th grade year, after that i thought i was too stupid to learn so i just never tried in school for the entire year until i failed the final exam and felt even worse about myself, and that all started because i felt like something was wrong with me and i was never going to learn anyways, parents please don’t make your kids use ixl because that ruined my entire 4th grade year and other kids still call me dumb A for getting a horrible score on my 4th grade math exam
