FREAKING HATE IXL BAN IXL IN SCHOOLS I am a 7th grader doing MATH 1 yet I CANT DO A 7TH GRADE LESSON RIGHT it unfairly punishes you at the point where it’s just luck the “Prizes” are the worst motivation they can be THE EXPLANATIONS MAKE NO SENSE AND DONT EXPLAIN CLEARLY if ur a adult reading this PLEASE help ban ixl if ur a child reading this MAKE A BAD REVIEW!!!!

This is the entire reason why I feel stressed and was depressed in my elementary years. This application makes learning a literal real-life boss level where a single miss makes the boss kill you and restart. Even when you finish a lesson, there are so many more lessons that are waiting to destroy your hope. Doing anything in IXL, whether a diagnostic or a lesson, feels like you are pushing a rock up a mountain, but it always falls back more and more and more. Do not EVER recommend it to your children. This will KILL their desire to learn anything. If they already use it, stop them. They might enjoy it for now, but soon, when they understand, they will despise this with every bone in their bodies.

Every time I am like 1 question away to getting a 100, I misclick and lose like 40 points!

The smart point system is stupid, when I got to 85 points and got a single question wrong, I went down to 63. That's 5 more questions than I have patients for. It's a repetitive cycle of hard questions that you sometimes don't understand, and get a 0 or a 30 for your grade because you didn't complete it.

Before I saw all the other reviews on this company, I thought I was the only one who hated this company with all my heart. Literally everytime I had to use this app it made me cry because tell me why I get one right and get 3 points, but I get one wrong and lose 10, and now I have to be in IXL While all my friends are playing Boddle and Prodigy! 😭 and you get an easy as heck question, I get it right, well great NOW I’M DOING EIGHTH GRADE MATH! If only I could give no stars! Teachers, please don’t make your students do this, I don’t want them to cry and feel stupid like me

IXL is a platform many school districts, including the one I work for, have adopted. As a teacher it is constantly pushed at us for data collection. We are required to use it weekly and put into brackets to compete against other schools in our district. It is annoying at best and takes away from the learning environment at worst. Students that struggle are facing a nonstop assignment machine that sucks up any free time. As a parent I strongly dislike this platform because I must help my child navigate it, after school hours, for hours in all core subjects. My child HATES learning in this way. Every wrong answer is a huge set back so the pressure is on to get it right the first time or be required to keep working longer and longer just to pass. The remediation feels negative and robs the joy of learning. The goal becomes cheat to get this horrible requirement over as quick as possible. As a parent and an educator I sit with my child so there is no cheating, I encourage and redirect and provide breaks and incentives just to help the teacher (because I am also in this same losing game). I wish we were reading a chosen book or doing a project together instead of this computer screen tedium.

IXL is terrible. Before you decide to use IXL, please consider that they have an ongoing lawsuit against them for leaking student data. The main reason why everyone is giving them scathing 1 star reviews, is probably mainly because of this stupid freaking "SmartScore" system. At the start, each correct answer gives you 10 ish points. (you only need 100 points to complete the "skill"). That seems pretty easy right? But no. Once you get to 80ish points, each correct question grants you only 1 or 2 points, while each wrong question makes you loose 15-10 points. This ends up creating an incredibly repetitive cycle of questions.

IXL is a mess. It has a stupid smart score witch the way it works is questionable to say the least. I have to use it every day for math and every day I hate it more and more. IXL delete yourself!
