I am extremely dissatisfied and frustrated at the service that I have received thus far. IJL has not shown any regard or respect for me as your client. A very rosy picture of the process for dating was shown to me. False statements about the program were made to influence me to sign a contract and pay a very hefty fee. So far, they have provided me with only one date in five months, doesn't seem like the outcome for a premium service.
IJL have not provided me with a satisfactory response as to why? No one has reached out to me in the last couple of months.
I feel cheated and disgusted...

Awful Experience
Awful Experience
Please read all of the negative reviews - they are all accurate.
I paid ~$5K for 14 initial dates in 12 months. After 11 months, I have had three dates. One of those was set up with a woman who was moving out of state the next week. Worse, when I complained, I would not get responses sometimes for six weeks at a time. I have cycled through six matchmakers, and everyone would ask me the exact same questions. I quickly got the impression that no one actually listened to my personal needs. What is worse, I provided a positive review for a matchmaker, as he told me he gets bonuses for positive reviews. They only want a positive review, not for good work, but for compensation. My second matchmaker told me there were zero women that met my criteria, and that I should not expect to go on my dates. Had this been presented up front - I NEVER would have signed up.
This is an awful customer experience. The 1* reviews are accurate. You will be more frustrated at the end of this. I will persuade anyone that asks to avoid this service.
***Update - they say they will have someone reach out, but they don't. They do not follow up at all.

IJL delivered nothing they promised
IJL delivered nothing they promised. Signing with them was a costly mistake. I feel like I was scammed. They would send me a photo but no profile just a verbal "summary". I would say yes and then never hear from them again. They never set up a single lunch date in two years. Tried to get my money back but no success.

Waste of time and even BIGGER waste of money
'It's Just Lunch' was a waste of time and money, especially for the price the consumers pay. 4 of the 6 guaranteed "dates" were some of the worst dates I've been on. After providing feedback from the first date, which they claim helps them in the 'matchmaking process,' the following three dates were even less aligned with the characteristics I was looking for in a partner. During my initial conversations, I was very clear in stating I did not want children, nor did I want my partner to have children. When I received the call with a description of my third "match," the "matchmaker" I spoke with shared that the potential match they wanted to set me up with had two children. When I reiterated to her that I did not want children and my partner having children was a deal breaker, the "matchmaker" had to audacity to ask, "Are you sure? I think you would be a great match!" How would we be a great match if the guy has children, and I was clear in stating I do not want them?! It was at this time it became abundantly clear to me that they're simply just matching me with anyone who is available; they are a business and the "matchmakers" are sales people who have a quota to meet (a guarantee of 6 dates during the 6 month contract), rather than actually putting forth the effort to find someone who would legitimately be a good match. On SEVERAL occasions, I thought about just not showing up to any of the remaining dates because I was so frustrated and disappointed in the dates and the effort being put forth, especially for what I was paying. My fourth date was several years older than the max age I requested, but the loophole there came when they failed to tell me how old he was, and it was my miss to not ask the question at the time of the date confirmation. My fifth date was a smoker, which was another deal breaker I shared with them at the beginning, and when I provided that feedback, I was told they 'didn't know'; and admittedly, I put zero effort into the final date, simply because I was mentally done, and just so excited to be done with my IJL contract. If I could give zero stars for this review, I would; I would NOT recommend the IJL experience to anyone.

Complete Scam... RUN.
I wish I had read more reviews about It's Just Lunch and fully read the contract before signing up and paying the fee. Now I'm stuck, out thousands of dollars, and realizing too late I've been scammed. I asked before I signed up how they found the people they match you with and was told it wasn't JUST their own clients. Even in the paperwork they say that they source matches for clients. But that is a LIE!! They will only match you with paying clients. The majority of their clients are older men. It should have been a red flag to me that they say they REQUIRE Women to date men up to 10 years older than them. Men are NOT required to date people older, and only after I paid was, I essentially told that they would only be looking to match me with older men. This feels incredibly predatory and like it should be illegal. More than anything this is my biggest issue that makes me physically sick. I signed up for it because the person selling me the services made it sound like it wouldn't be an issue, that I could say I wasn't ok with being matched with men 5 years + older than myself and there were enough men in their system they could accommodate that. But it was a LIE. If you want to sleep with your father, or your father's best friend, this is the service for you. If you do not have phycological issues and don't want to be preyed upon by older men run, RUN as far away from IJL as you can! Unfortunately, they pressure you to sign the contract right there on the phone with them.
It's part of the sign-up process and needs to all be done on the phone call before they hang up. So I didn't have time to thoroughly read it as I'm sitting on the call being asked "did you receive it, did you sign it yet?" Which means I didn't see the part that waves your right to hire a lawyer. If you have any issues with their services, you first are supposed to address your issues with your matchmaker. If the matchmaker can't solve the issues, then you have to go talk to the Customer Service Manager or IJL VP of Executive Matchmaking so they can gaslight you. And your matchmaker turns over so even if you do have a conversation with them and feel like maybe next time things will be better- next time it's a totally different person contacting you! So all that personal information you just gave to the last matchmaker is now lost. I'm so glad I told them all that personal information about myself given how incredibly uninvested they clearly all are in helping me. I would gladly escalate the issue to the Customer Service Manager or VP, but they have no method of contacting customer service if you’re unhappy with your experience.
They basically write what THEY think was important about your first 30 minute conversation into a computer, checking some boxes, and then will use a computer to match you with people based on the boxes they checked. Half of the matches I received were people who didn't match specific criteria I gave that I said was my "must have's". So either they ignored what they wrote in the computer, or they didn't even record it in the first place. And as others have said they will randomly contact you out of the blue expecting you to be available at the drop of the hat to talk about "your next match". This is supposed to be a service for professionals, yet they can't figure out we have schedules and work and can't give us the customer service of pre-arranging the time they will contact us each month. This last month the new matchmaker claimed they left me a voicemail detailing the match, but I don't know whose phone they left that message on because it sure wasn't mine. And now I'm expected to make a decision just based off a picture - of again someone 5 years older than me? (The youngest so far.) And that's all I know. I wrote the matchmaker back stating they had left the Voicemail on the wrong persons phone and I knew nothing about this person, and all i got was a canned response saying “let me know if you change your mind, many of my clients do.” I’m not going to change my mind when I know literally nothing about this person! This is not the service I am paying for.
They are allowed to set boundaries, but you as a client are not. This is an incredibly unhealthy company from a psychological standpoint and a professional one. You're much better off paying a friend/family/complete stranger you found yourself online to run a dating profile for you through an app. You'll save money and at least that person will listen to what you say and actually be working for you, not just trying to take your money.

Just another another pawn in this scam
Wow, wish I would have read these reviews in advance! Everything I am reading now echos my experience of the past 3 weeks. My matchmaker claims not to have received my voicemails or email responses sent to her by replying to her original email. Finally got someone to answer a different number but was then "disconnected".
I just want my money back, surely feels like I have just been another pawn in their scam.
Update: Still not happy, yes they have scheduled a date, I agreed even though he does not meet my criteria, how hard is under 60, no pet allergies and lives in San Antonio...I am tired of fighting with them. Now they scheduled it in another city, 40+ minute drive for a lunch date. This is advertised as a service for professionals meaning I have a job. This venue would require taking off a half day of work. After complaining and being told that "this venue was the closest to you" I determined that they are using my billing zip code to base my dates. I had her to change my zip code to my office and the venue was changed, at least this one is in San Antonio but still on the opposite side of town. I am a business professional however I do have a responsibility to my office and try not to take more than an hour o
Maybe an hour and a 1/2 for lunch. The travel time to and from this lunch will be approximately 40 minutes. Guess I am taking an extended lunch to have a blind date...Still not happy!!!

I have barely heard anything from my matchmaker and have been on one date in two months. Ridiculous for the amount of money you pay for a membership.

Where can I start?!
Where can I start?!
After much thought and consideration, I have decided to reach out about my experience with It’s just lunch.
When the matchmaker reached out to me earlier in April, one of the things she mentioned, that made me take the leap into this adventure, was that spring-summer was the right time, that love is in the air and that she had a long list of men that could fit what I am looking for.
I put my faith in her expertise, I felt she listened and asked the right questions during the intake interview.
I was very excited when I was told about my first date.
I went to the date with my heart and mind open.
It was quite disappointing, since he did not match at all what I am looking for physically or emotionally.
He was not what I described as what I was attracted too and our lifestyle and political views were very different, in some aspects opposite and where no compromise could be made. He was a nice person, but I would not have picked him out of an online dating profile.
I was a bit baffled and I did reach out to IJL and expressed these thoughts.
Concerned at this point that what we had discussed in our intake was not what was showing up in the person matched with me.
I was still open and thought things just needed some fine tunning.
The second date matched physically and felt promising in the general connection. The hiccup was that he is still married, living under the same roof with his wife.
On our 1st date all the circumstances were a little fuzzy, and I thought I understood his divorce was in the works.
I saw him 2 more times and came to realize that the divorce had not been initiated.
I have been through a divorce and it is no small feat, even if this is what you want. It is emotionally trying and a person in that situation shouldn’t even be in a matchmaking program.
At the same time, I could feel the disconnect with him and told him I was not going to pursue this relationship, his response was that he was overwhelmed with all the women he was being set up and was rusty in dating.
At one of the dates he specifically told me that IJL, knew about his living situation and told him that it was good that he had a second home at a lake, and that he should not share this information on dates. IJL denied any knowledge of his situation, I do not believe them.
Anyway, in synthesis, why would I be set up with a guy that is still married and living under the same roof with his wife? This does not sound right from any angle you view it.
On we go to date number 3, this was traumatic and completely crazy! I felt embarrassed for his behavior.
Since IJL personnel kept telling me I missed “the one” because I did not want to meet someone that lived about 100 miles, I accepted this one date in San Jose. Having to meet him on a work day and having to deal with commute traffic, it took me an hour to make it to meet him.
I am and have been open in this dating process and I try not to be hung up on appearances and not judge a book by its covers. With that said, the first impression was not good. The first verbal exchanges were not good either, but I was still open to give it a fair chance.
He was pushy and impatient and then got agitated with some preteen kids that were playing with a skateboard. He yelled at them, after asking me if he should say something.
At this point, it felt like such an incredible mismatch, so I told him we should not order dinner, that I wanted to leave. I was polite and stayed until he finished his drink, offered to pay for mine and just walk away.
By the way, I have never walked away from a date, but this was beyond uncomfortable.
The kids were still around, again they were between 10 and 13 at the most, just kids being kids, and he was clearly agitated. I decided to start walking to my car, the whole restaurant was looking at us, and I wanted to leave as soon as I could.
As I am walking to my car, he started yelling profanities at the top of his lungs to the kids.
Embarrassing is the least. This was traumatic, uncomfortable, unbelievable.
So, at this point, my experience with IJL has not been good, I’d say it was been negative, uncomfortable and I am paying for this!
I am extremely disappointed, put myself our there and was traumatized by these matches.
I asked for a refund, and all I got was apologies, but not from the matchmaker, she offered a conversation at the end, and honestly I refused. I believe she should’ve been the first person to contact me and try to make things right.
I have friends that were waiting to see how my experience turned out, so they would then join IJL, but they could not believe my experience. The worst part is that this is not cheap! I can do better with dating apps and save a lot of money, but I put my faith in their “so called” expertise and was defrauded, disappointed and baffled that they could get away with this.
I was fooled, and I learned my lesson.
This was an awful experience.
