Very disappointing experience at Ireland West Airport today. I entered the airport car park for just a few minutes and was charged €3 on exit. I returned within the hour, stayed for only six minutes, and was charged again! The second charge initially showed €3, but while I was trying to dispute it, security repeatedly ignored my attempts to speak to someone through the intercom. I had to ring the airport twice before eventually getting an explanation. By then, the charge had increased to €5 because of the delay! Apparently, if you return within the hour, you get charged again, despite the advertised 15-minute free parking period. So I ended up paying €8 for two visits lasting just a few minutes each, with the second charge actually increasing because security wouldn’t respond. A very misleading system that feels like a scam, made worse by extremely poor customer service. Not what you’d expect from an airport I’ve always been happy to support

Whilst only 4 flights are through security according to the board it is heaving with lots of people standing. Not enough space or seating area. The compulsory 10 euro fee to go to security is disgraceful and after a lovely holiday it is telling that my last memory is being fleeced with this compulsory fee. Plus the prices of everything is very high. I bought a bottle of gin in Westport for 25 euros and here is us £29 euros when it is duty free in the airport (travelling to UK). We were held outside in what felt like a cattle pen for 15 minutes plus with a strong wind, fortunately there was a roof to keep us dry. What it is like in the dark in winter. Next time we come we won’t come to Knock there are lots of other airports.

I used to think Knock airport was a great benefit to the region, and would always prefer to fly from there than drive to Dublin. However, unfortunately it is no longer fit for purpose. I have flown to Stansted twice this year on a Friday (earlier in May and 25th September 2026) and both times have been horrendous. Most recently I arrived at the airport 2 hours before my flight to find a queue to the external door for getting through security. I only had hand luggage but lots of people were confused as to whether this was the queue to check in baggage. The fact that there are only two people taking the compulsory €10 development fee slows everything up. What is this charge for, it's been there years yet there are no real improvements to the airport. You then have to queue for only 2 security scanners and the removal of some of the preparation area means even though you don't have to take liquids out it seems to take longer than before. On top of that there are 5 flights within just over an hour and no where near enough space to cope. There was a lady calling people to the front of the security queue, first for the Birmingham flight, then for the Faro flight as they departed before Stansted. As a result I did not move in the queue for ages. By the time I got through security I had no time for breakfast as my own flight was queuing to board. The whole experience was a shambles from start to finish. Stansted is a much busier airport yet I sailed through security in 10 minutes today. It's no good increasing car parks and offering more flights from Knock without improving the facilities. There is so much dead space in the check in hall and also in the restaurant upstairs which is before you go through security and hardly used. Surely the airport can be reconfigured to provide more security lanes and more space for eating and waiting before flying.

Hideous never cease to amaze. HERTZ DOLAR THRIFTY 3 hrs+ waiting for a pre ordered hire car thats not there. Then went to the lounge to wait, 4 euro for a small bottle of Orange with a 15 cent deposit as its in a plastic bottle "as thats what Europe do". To top it off asked for money to help pay for the improvement of the place over the past 40 years. Absolute con and joke

As has been the case on a no. of previous visits, the departure lounge of this airport is a complete rip off, not only are they more than happy to keeping adding an additional tax when you depart, the prices in the departure area are scandalous, during my trips here I have noticed increasing numbers of people bringing their own food into departures, no doubt, in future they will also stamp this out. Purchasing a bottled drink, they also hide the real cost. As is the case in Ireland there is a bottle tax, when you purchase this is always included in the price on display, but not in Knock, they have taken it upon themselves to hide this cost in the small print, on the advertised price, so when you go to pay for their already over priced products, there is an additional cost. Beware. I would love to be positive about this place, but unfortunately it always fails. Given a choice, when it suits, Belfast or Dublin are the preference. Poor service, food, parking etc.

Extraordinary 10 Euro payment per person required to board your flight which is levied at the departure gate. You got me this time but next time I will fly via Shannon

Very racist the lady at check in for Barcelona Girona fligh on 2nd July. Shame on you. First time when happens. No more flights from here. Better from Dublin, even if I have to drive 500 km. Try to avoid...
