IDOL Courses Academy provided me with a wonderful network of supportive mentors, coaches, and peers that helped me to cultivate valuable skills and ID knowledge. The hands-on practice, feedback, and iterative process is incredibly helpful.

The best thing about IDOL is the support from the community. The one thing I wish were different is the videos embedded in the course. I wish they were not live videos and were pre-recorded videos that had visuals to explain.

IDOL is an incredible academy to learn instructional design skills. There is absolutely no way I could have accomplished as much as I have the past 7 weeks on my own. The community is the best part about the course. The feedback and support from fellow cohort members as well as the guidance and leadership from coaches and mentors makes the course worth every penny. The reason why I would not rate the academy a 5/5 is because I do believe the course could be improved in several ways. Some of the lessons are include too much information that is not broken down enough for beginners. It is also difficult to locate materials at times. The course has undergone changes recently that have made it better, but the videos do not always reflect those changes. For example, it is not uncommon for the instructions or videos to refer to course materials that are no longer available or in use in the academy. This makes meeting expectations difficult. Overall, I would highly recommend this course.

IDOL Courses has given me direction and confidence to progress in my career in Digital Learning. I am glad I took the decision to enroll in the IDOL course. Special thanks to mentors, coaches, and IDOL community members who helped me gain hone my IDOL skills with their valuable feedback and constant support.

The IDOL Courses Academy is a fantastic place to get started in the transition to becoming an ID. I would give it 4.5 stars if able. The only constructive feedback I would provide is to expand the pool of mentors to cover more time zones across the globe.

IDOL changed my life and helped me pivot my career. I was told repeatedly that it's an 8 week cohort, but that everything is self-paced and I'd get access to the curriculum for life. Even new content is added to the program every cohort, so I get that too. I only got through 1/4th of the curriculum in my first cohort, but I had a new job by then too. To give context, I had to go on medical leave so I was able to dedicate full-time to IDOL and my job search. No one promised me a new career in 8 weeks. I came back a year later and earned the other badges as I made my second career pivot. The academy really is what you put into it, but that's with everything in life. The only improvement I'd make to IDOL is that feedback mechanism of the program could be improved upon. But that challenge isn't from a place of ill-intent or neglect, just that the academy is growing and coaches aren't full-time employees. But it's also a challenge of which IDOL is aware and working on.
