So easy to get CEC's and there are many interesting subjects offered.

IDEA provides great conferences and tools for trainers. However, I feel the organization is just beginning to embrace the importance of inclusiveness and body positivity. The cover article in the February 2018 issue of Fitness Journal is a call for change, which shows that good intentions are there; but the representative artwork and imagery focus on white women in a higher weight range. Body image is an issue for people of all sizes, not just those of higher weight. Food is demonized in the image of an articulated mannequin with a glazed donut around its middle, the message being that body size is a reflection of what is eaten, which we know to be untrue. Clearly, the editors have a long way to go toward understanding the deeper meaning and implications of body image and body positivity, for trainers and clients alike.

A wonderful organization that unites fitness professionals with one of the last remaining international conventions and printed magazines. Due to recent changes, they are finding their way in an ever-changing fitness market and evaluating their values and staff, and this effect always filters down, usually in a positive way.
